Sorry to ruin your fun but <a href=../autolink/redirectpage.php?linkid=64 target=_blank>bose</a> was not designed for audiophiles, it's for people with money who want nice looking brand name stuff. I checked reviews on these headphones (real ones, from people) and I would have to say I have never seen worse reviews on a pair of headphones. Buddy if you are really an audiophile sell these and buy something decent for half that price.

vladislav is right, if you can, return them right away and pick up a pair of comparably priced Sennheisers or especially Grado.
I heard the Triport phones, and they are NOT worth what they are charging for them.
Read up on what discriminating people are buying http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=2 especially this thread http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=13854 which has lots of good suggestions

I've read headfi, they're so biased towards their Grados and Sens..teeny boys listening to their music. heh, anyways, check out the reviews from more crediable web sites, like cnet or epinions or anything else before believing what headfi says! trust me.

AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
The <a href=../autolink/redirectpage.php?linkid=64 target=_blank>bose</a> triports arent that horrible (compared to their Home Theater speakers), but for the price they charge, they're just horribly overpriced. Its all relative... for the price they charge, you can get a MUCH MUCH better headphone than the <a href=../autolink/redirectpage.php?linkid=64 target=_blank>Bose</a>. if they charged 1/3 of the price, then it may be worth it.
But since you got it free.... your choice... I'd sell that sucker to some unknowing ignorant Joe-6pack and buy some real headphones

Haha....I nearly fell over when I saw that.
Have you even heard a Grado SR 125 or a AKG 401? Those are much better headphones than the <a href=../autolink/redirectpage.php?linkid=64 target=_blank>Bose</a> in the same price range.

I got a pair of Sennheiser HD497's. Best spent $100 on audio equipment I have ever made. I also have a pair of Sony EX-71SL earphones for listening to my ipod, but the sennheisers beat them hands down.
A friend had the <a href=../autolink/redirectpage.php?linkid=64 target=_blank>bose</a> headphones, and took them back. The sound just wasn't worth the money. I would suggest the HD497's, or if you want more then go with an HD570/580 or HD600. I have also heard good things about the Grado 60's, but that was also from that 'uncredible' source

I havent really kept up with the new headphones, but I've always thought that the Sony DR66SL's (eggo's) were the best you could get for under $100 (better than the Senn HD497's but not as good as the Grado SR60's).

Some people say the 497's are just as good as the SR-60's. In fact, I had a hard time deciding which was better myself. The SR-60's *are* more comfortable though.
I had the D66 eggos too, and I think I prefer the 497's to them. Especially since my D66's creaked whenever I moved my head, it drove me crazy!

That is one of the funniest things I've heard all year. Despite the spelling error, it may make my top ten list.

How do the SR60's compare to the Portapros? Recently i was thinkin of upgrading to a pair of SR60 from portapros, but i read comments at HeadFi that they sound very similar, and the SR60 isnt MUCH of a step up from the PortaPros.

I think the SR-60's are definitely a step or two up from the PortaPros. They do have a similar sound signature, but the SR-60's just sound better all around, just a wee bit smoother, just a wee bit more dynamic sounding, just a wee bit more detailed.
Like everything, once you get to a certain level of quality, spending more just gets you a little bit more. For example, the SR-80's are again a little bit better, but they aren't 33% better (the 80's are at least 33% more in price)
I like the HD497's because they are a bit more livelier sounding, but at the same time, a bit more dry sounding (slight coarseness to some vocals, probably around the upper midrange). To me, sometimes they seem to have more detail than the SR-60's. It's very subtle, but there.
