I got the same e-mail too. Why don't they show the sales online or do we have to drag ourselves to Ikea :?: I hate going out on Boxing Day, way too much hassle.

Some deals are the same ones offered in "midnight madness", but "madness" had better price!

Hey!! I woke up this morning at 7am to reach the Ikea in Etobicoke (Queensway near Kipling). I couldn't even take the subway from where I was so I had to journey by streetcar and bus and it took about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get there. What a waste of time! I show up expecting to actually see some good boxing day sales on things such as, sofabeds (which is what I really really wanted) and maybe even bed frames and such. Hah, what's this?? Ooooh! The same, weak "sale" that they had at midnight madess. There was like 5% of the store on an actual boxing day sale. The rest was leftover midnight madness and normal prices. I was soooo disappointed it ain't even funny! Ikea really really dropped the ball on this one. I'm guessing they'll come with better sales in the month of January.

Thanks! Hmm, I live in Vancouver, and their shipping charge is about $49, so with the coupon, it comes down to $29. Now, do I want to pay $29 for deliver or brave the Boxing Week crowds?

At Ikea Vaughn (Jane+Hwy7) they had a 50-70% off AS-IS products sale. Most of the stuff there was still boxed and the deals were good if you knew what you were looking for. The sale is on for boxing week so check it out if you're in the area.

I was in the Vaughan store yesterday. They have the 5-drawer wardrobe for 1/2 price ~$75 and a 7-drawer one for 1/2 price too (forgot the price for it). I bought some white plates and bowls as they are only 50 cents each.

I believe that Ikea Ottawa has between 5-10 items on sale, and not at very attractive prices. I bought a Lack table and Ombo wardrobe, but at full price.

Definately not impressed!

I was at the Burlington store on the 26th, after braving the best buy sale. Went for the 1$ breakfast, there were NO sales to speak of, but picked up a nice as is sale. Went on the 27th to pick it up and was BLOWN AWAY at the crowd. Literally 10x as many people as the 26th.

I bought the 7 drawer wardrobe for $170 just a couple months ago ... & now they are half price. >:(

But the sale was only for the beech finish -- too "orange" for my taste.
The other finishes were regular price. At least that's what I saw at the North York store.

I don't know of any sales going on in January at IKEA etobicoke for, if there were, it would be specific items only (ie. making room of new inventory)

As a former employee. I can tell you that IKEA only really has two major sales.. Winter and Summer.
Best time to go for selection is at the beginning of the sale, if you want cheap stuff but not too crazy about what you are getting, then go around the end... that's when they knock off like 75% at times.
I got some really good stuff at the end of the Winter Sale for Christmas wrapping paper and candles because they would make them under a dollar!

I, too, went to the Coquitlam Ikea, hoping to find a deal or two. Took half an hour to park. Found NOTHING I wanted on sale and left in disgust.

Luckily, the Linens 'N Things is right next door - went over and spent $250 on stuff that was at least 40% off. So, I guess I owe Ikea a "thank-you" for that.
