Why not just let us host it on our own 1and1 webspace? It saves RFD's bandwidth too (since the main pages are so slow already).

Here are the scans that I got from PN (courtesy of lin_simon) as a backup. (I am sure he won't mind, since he is also a member here but unfortunately not a mod. )

We'd actually rather you use the gallery. The images are clearer and easier to read for one. As for the bandwidth and speed, that should be fixed at least on the Flyer Gallery pages as we got another server just to host the flyers and gallery.

Bandwidth wise we should be okay...

does anyone know what the return policy for boxing day sales at A&B?

I want to get a pair of bookshelf speakers but I am not sure how good they will sound for my karaoke room.

If you live in victoria, be prepared to camp out if you want any of the really good deals. I showed up an hour after opening last year, and they didn't have a thing I wanted. This has been typical for every year I've gone to their boxing day sale (15 years of them).

Actually in the GVRD area, some people start lining up on the 24th.

One person a few years back, pitched a tent outside the Burnaby location on Kingsway on the 24th to purchase something and by 10 pm on the 25th, he had like 10 other people behind him. (My friend worked at A&B as a sales rep. and he recommends showing up like at 1:00 am on the 26th to get the odds at the limited items.)

yeah, a&b sound lineups are quite possibly the largest in western canada. their deals are always suspect as they never seem to have the stock in the first place. been that way in my experience at least.

Lining up way early really works if the climate is mild. Otherwise, I would not line up too early if the temps go down below minus 20 or 30 deg C. With many online deals available, it makes better sense to order items from the comfort of your home if at all possible.

I don't think they've had many "hot" deals at their Boxing Day sales in ten years.

The line ups are horrid - they could alleviate the lines after an hour or two - but they don't because the line ups make newbies think that the deals are better than they are.

I'm a long term A&B fan (I've been going to their Boxing Day sales since the late 70's), but I don't bother going until the 27th... If there is a CD or DVD blow out I take the ad to Zellers or Walmart.

When things are sold below cost quantities are always limited. You can't expect to show up an hour or two after a sale starts to get a hot deal. It sucks with the long lineups but if you want a hot deal then that's what you have to do. Here's my thoughts as to the best deals:

Hitachi Plasma - $500 below cost
Hitachi DVD Player - $30 below cost
Yamaha RXV-1500 below cost
Parasound Halo Components - demos below cost
Velodyne Deco 5.1 sytem - sub alone is worth more than the entire package price
PSB Speakers - up to 75% off original retail.
Velodyne Sub - exactly the same as the 12" model FS carries at $599. This was a custom model for Good Guys in the US.

Not sure how you can say the deals aren't hot when a huge chunk of the audio/video product is at or below cost. If you are looking for audio it's a killer year to put to together a great package no matter the price point. Everyone's got great prices on video displays this year as well, though audio is where the biggest savings are.

Might not be the best year if you are looking at buying cheaper, lower end audio/video products. The main cd/dvd feature page consists of titles that are all below cost. I don't think it's that the deals aren't hot, it's more like some people don't know how to spot a hot deal.

Parasound Halo at half price or below cost is damn JUICY. If someone goes, please tell me how much they're going for.

All of the demos are halfoff CDN retail (puts them all slightly below cost). Can't recall the retails at the moment, but they weren't far off the US with US --> CDN conversion. Most of the larger stores have the C2 paired with the lower price 5.1 amp. You may want to take a look around for other dealers clearing out the older classic line. The new classics are going to be underpowered compared to the current classics, which are VERY close to the Halo line. Uncomfortably close for Parasounds liking! :)

There is only one Parasound dealer in Toronto I think and they're a custom install place...I don't even know what Canadian retail on the stuff is.

A&B used to have killer deals in the past.
This year's deal doesn't seem that appealing to me.

Velodyne Deco 5.1 is readily available in the USA for $499 ($599 Cdn)
Granted there are some shipping & handling issues bringing from the states but all I'm saying is $800 may not be a 'deal' on this 2-3 year old speaker package.

Personally I think the Pro-linear is the best kept secret. You get a big bang for the buck and as such is very RFD-friendly. I have their basscube sub, and it's astounding for the price.

Just drove by the Metrotown AB Sound. 5 ppl or so camping out in the rain. I wonder what the hell they're trying to buy. Only thing I saw appealing was 10% off DVD's, and I won't even wait 30min for that.

EDIT: I just checked their online flyer and they are selling spider-man 2 and Harry Potter 3 for $12 Each.
