here is an Example.
Okay. that would make sense... but i dont think Flash is needed to view a simple HTML page with only JPG pics.. :|
i have Java which is adequate for normal surfing.
I will pay pal the winner $1.00 dollar! seriously its all i can afford after Xmas shopping. lol
but i will pay pal you $1 if you coudl give good advice fixing this.

While he's doing that, you should download the latest version of spellchecker for yourself. I think that's "best" for you. :D

The obvious thing to check would be the setting for
Tools->Internet Options->Advanced->Show Images
When you right-click on the image placeholder, what does the pop-up menu show? Is the "Show picture" option enabled or is it greyed out?

In IE, go to Tools, Internet Options then to the Advanced tab.
Scroll down to the Multimedia section and make sure that "Show Pictures" is checked.

Since he re-loaded XP etc, there is obvious something else wrong.
Try downloading a .gif and a .jpg and see if you can open them in IE locally from your hard drive.

Have you tried the following from MS Support?
Pictures Are Not Displayed on Web Sites in Internet Explorer (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=283807)

Who knows? Maybe IE is to blame...or some short of transparent proxy from his ISP
You can also give a shot to Opera (http://opera.com) :cheesygri
Ditch IE!

IE might be corrupt... To just reinstall IE, go to C:\windows\inf (it's a hidden folder - type it into the command line) and then find the file IE.INF
Right click on it and choose Install. It will then prompt you for the XP cd; browse to the i386 folder on the root of the disk and then click ok. It'll finish the install and then prompt you to restart.

I've seen this problem twice before.
And this is the solution that worked for me.
Check out your hosts file
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
[open hosts file with notepad]
The hosts file causes IE to time-out on pics if it has too many entries. I only put about 10-20 entries in my hosts file.

I have the same problem, but it is almost certainly with ZoneAlarm causing it.

UrbanPoet: I also have this problamo, I personally think it's a Hijacker... And i have yet to fix the problem, and I actually gave up a while ago when I quickly switched over to Firefox (http://www.firefox.com). I seriously recommend you do the same...
P.S. It aint ZoneAlarm (Well not for me atleast since I don't got it)

I can tell you this: You're missing some infos on the problem and/or not telling the whole truth about the issue. That's why we can't pin point a solution.

Did you install all the latest Windows updates? It sounds like one of the latest batches of spyware (which can't be removed by standard tools) has hijacked your hosts file. A fresh install with updates prior to going online is a must these days.

After running a spyware scan, delete the hosts file. A new one that is clean will be generated.
