I bought a computer off someone on this board, and it died after a couple of months. Specs here: http://forums.redflagdeals.com/showthread.php?t=113141&highlight=Sempron
I have no intent to blame anyone in this because the computer was indeed working(sort of) at the time of sale. What I am looking for is a RELIABLE computer service shop that could test my pc out, figure out whats wrong with it, buy new parts for me, install them and test the whole thing working while not charging insane prices for such service. Or someone on these boards in North York area kind enough to help out with this.

oh and by the way, I had the memory and videocard tested, theyre fine. Also, I do realize that this isnt supposed to go into BST forum, but I think this is the most visited forum on the boards, I apologize for any inconvinience this may cause.

Actually you would have a decent viewership in the off topic section as well.

Not to mention you would not have people flaming you here in the hot deals section.

Hope things work out for you.

Read the old thread. Buy a new motherboard.

But I agree. You are not making any friends by posting in this forum.

Like the sign says

Please put garbage in its proper place please.

all you guys do is blame him, not even a single helpful advice.

Maybe you can describe the problem in more detail? like does it turn on? are there error screens? etc....

judging from having no info besides what works, snds like your mobo or cpu went, either way should be under $100 to fix...

As I stated in my message. It sounds like a motherboard problem. It was problematic before he bought it. (Keyboard connector etc)

So I said replace the motherboard. He already tested his RAM and Video card

did you flash the bios?
if it's the mb then you really can't do that much abt it

its a long shot, but..

Take like the RAM or the video card out of the motherboard.
If it doesn't make a POST error, its safe to say the motherboard is dead.

If it does, then put money on either the processor or psu.

ok, thanks CodecX81,champ91 and gee for some advice. No thanks to any other participants in this thread.
The reason why I did not give any details is because I DO NOT WANT TO TRY AND FIX IT MYSELF. It has taken up way too much time of mine already, just isnt worth it. One thing I want to ask is - my board does give out infinite short beeps, after one long one when I turn it on. I thought it's the motherboard, but I took the processor to one of my pals who's got one of those old kt266 socketA boards to test it out and it doesnt turn on at all, neither does it give out any beeps. Does that mean the cpu is dead too or may it be no support for the core its built on.

Also, may I note that I bought a used PSU just the night before this whole thing happened, a nice 350W Enermax one, is there a possibility of the psu being bad and burning my components up?

it worked great with the new psu for about 5 hrs before the failure by the way.

Most of the flaming posts but NOT ME were because the guy DELIBERATELY posted in this thread in the hot deals section even though he KNEW it was not a hot deal. ;)

What do you really expect people to say? ;)

I myself felt it was needless to flame as the mods would soon enough move thread to the off topic forum section which they did.

Peace.

Breakdown
When computer boots naturally, 2 long beeps then just beep beep beep beep beep beep..x infinitely

Took the CPU to a friends house, and it doesn't boot at all.
Can you adversely take another cpu and try it in this board?
How about, leaving the processor out of the machine, and seeing if it makes the same type of beep you described earlier?

Can you try to use the old power supply to see if the computer boots?

The liklihood of one part making another part 'burn' is unlikely. I've had the same problems in the past.
