ok... b4 i went to click on ur links to jpeg images of flyers, i ALREADY had a previous thought that staples is gonna offer crap "NOT-SO-HOT" deals.... .... and NOT to my surprise, i was right....

staples boxing day deals suck compared the FS/BB... and FS/BB didn't have that many hot deals after all (to me).... so staples just goes down the drain in terms of hot deals....

but newayz thx 4 takin the time to postem!

The leather chair is ONLY $20 off - and the fine print says "leather/moc-leather combination" - meaning some leather and lotsa vinyl.
If it's anything like the Globo "manager's leather chair" that they sold for $99 a while back, it's a POS - they got lots of them returned, the leather covered cushions were glued to the plastic frame with contact cement. Some of them had the cushions falling off - brand new in the box.

I think that the price on the "Network Everywhere" wireless B router on the first page is a good price. Is it any good?

If it is model NWR04B, then it is a case of "you get what you pay for".
A search on google for reviews show about a 25% satisfaction rate for the device. Most common complaint is the unit locks up after a few days or weeks due to overheating. Most people bought it because it was cheap. Prices ranged from $25 US to $60 US.

I am looking for a 2nd router as backup and as a portable unit (which means it will be used for shorter time periods instead of 24/7), so this item is worth looking into, although is it worth it to go to Staples for just one item? Maybe there will be instore specials???

Perhaps as a New Year's Resolution for 2005, can we stop using the words "Staples" and "deal" in the same sentence? :)

I have a question for you hard core PM'ers

I have only ever done 1 before and not at Staples, but after looking at this boxing day flyer I see that there are only 4 Ipaq RZ1710's per store. If I buy tommorrow Dec 24th do you think that I can get a PM later next week? or because there are only 4 per store will they say NO Way

Thanks for the heads-up! I guess I don't need to line-up for OOStaples, FS or BB on boxing day. I hope OD got some good deals when their flyer comes.

that's so annoying that stores don't update their automated answering system with the holiday hours, which would save a real person, assuming you were able to connect to one, from having to answer the "what time are you open on Boxing Day"? question over and over again.

Bought
1. Wireless USB Adapter (802.11g) 29.99 + tax = $34.95
2. Clearance Stapler (1.97 at 50% off) + tax = $1.13

This is just sad, buying a stapler on Boxing Day
Gonna see how 802.11g adapter works

You're lucky you didn't goto Bridgeport. I was there at 8:20ish. They let people in slightly early but the cashier's lines were standstill. They had some stupid coupon system going, where you pickup a coupon at the front, pay for the item, and then a employee goes into the back and gets it for you. I waited in the cashier line for 1hr to pay for my friggin 30$ wireless usb adapter! The cashier had to look up the coupon in some chart, then you had to show them the flyer item, and then you pay and then wait again for someone to get the item for you. By far the worst store management I have EVER seen.

I went to Richmond Hill On at 11:00 after shopping elsewhere (Canada Computers).

They still had a skid of the 5 ream pkgs of printer paper @ $9.99.
I scooped the last D-Link 5 port ethernet hub @ $14.99 and a 64meg Lexar CF card for $14.99.

They had a ton of overpriced demo stuff sitting on tables - including printers that were missing ink carts - they wanted more for them then other retailers wanted for new. They also had lots of demo cordless phones that were way overpriced, and tons of reduced software that was sorely out of date. (eg EA Sports 2000 games for $4.99)

There was a 17in CRT sitting on the table with no price on it - I figured if it was cheap I might pick it up. Lo and behold the sales weenie looked it up and told me $249 down from regular $299. Needless to say I laughed at him and told him their competition wanted less for 17 inch LCD monitors.

I don't understand how some retailers can not figure out that due to technological change, if they don't dump their demos and old stock soon enough, nobody in their right mind is gonna buy the stuff. I remember when the manager of Crappy Tire in Richmond Hill On had a Commodore 64 for sale on their clearance cart for $99 when current technology was at the 486 level.

Wow, that's bad.
Waterloo Staples has similar system
1. You enter, a girl has all the coupons for limited quantity items
If you want any, ask for the coupon
2. Go to Copy Centre desk, present the coupon, the guy grabbed it and you paid there

I'd be done in 5 mins, if not for the "browsing" store part. Still happy about my $1 Stapler, ha ha. 50% of Clearance Items

well, ur lucky, cuz it could've been *much* worst than that!..... since there are STILL SO MANY "regular customers" out there that are irrational and don't know that staples is actually ripping them off.... considering that most of the ppl who line up ***DON'T*** know about their PM policy (or know it but are not knowledgeable enuff to apply it)....

Hmm.. There's always the one on No. 3 Road in Richmond. That one is worst. I know there are better ones around, but the Bridgeport one is okay in my standards. I had a few smooth PMs (with FS) since FS is right next door.

This is more relavent.

They got different opening hours in boxing day. (I'm talking about within the same city. - Richmond)

Arrived Staples on No. 3 Road at 7:45. There's a lineup of around 20 people there. However, after being in the line for a while, a few of us at the line noticed a sign at the door stating "Boxing day store hours 9-6". While on the other hand, the bridgeport one opens at 8am.

(this is also the reason why there's a 100 ppl at the Bridgeport location since this is the closest one which opens at 8am)

How can a chain at this size be such inconsistent with their operation hours?

Wow. That was a crappy system at the Bridgeport. I'm glad I didn't stick around. When the doors opened at the Broadway Staples, there were only about 30-40 people in line. One thing I did notice was when I rushed into the store to grab a sales associate, he had to go to the back room to grab my new monitor. Seems like they were hiding stock back there as usual. I'm not surprised.

I PM'ed my Logitech MX Duo at Bridgeport during the summer. What is convenient about that location is the Future Shop is right next door. I wandered into the FS before hand to make sure they had stock and checked the price, then walked back into Staples for the PM. :cheesygri

Thx for the headsup willy,

I'm surprised noone else had mentioned that the R200 was just $40.48 after MIR, PST, and GST. It was OOS on the website, but there were still a number of them in the Oakville/Mississauga stores this afternoon.

The store at Winston Churchill said the web price was $69.98 after MIR and couldn't confirm it was before rebate since it was OOS online. Went home and found a postal code that still had stock (E2M 1K8) and that proved it was $69.98 before MIR, and then went to the store at Dorval, where their stock was back in the storeroom. They couldn't believe the price was so low, but I said it had to be a HOT Boxing Day Deal to be listed in the Special Deals section on their website. After a bit of debate, they PM'd it for me to $69.98 plus tax (Total $80.48).

I didn't even mention the RFD site, so don't blow it for others...

Actually if you check the thread out in Hot Deals area you will see that it is approx. $9.00 per printer after rebates (depending on how many you bought)....it has been going for the past week....seems there is another mail in rebate for Epson for a $20. USD VISA debit card.

From protectivedad's post :

"Here goes:
Epson R200 $69.98
Staples Rebate $40.00
Epson Rebate $20.00 USD

You can use both rebates. If you buy three you can use the $20 off $200 coupon. After taxes it works out to be:
~$9 per printer."

no kidding!.

try to get a 100% legit pm in there.

you got a better chance getting a date with Britney Spears and her sister at the SAME time.
I tried PMing the R200 printer there and the manager there told me to leave the store! More on that later. Got a recording so that I can take him to court. :cheesygri

Didn't anybody pick up any clearance digital cameras at 25% off? Made it before the 9am opening, looked around a bit, finally found the table where the clearance cameras were (everybody had rushed for the $199 camera and they were all gone) and there's an s410 staring at me. That was exactly what i wanted to pick up. Actually I wanted the sd300 and am still considering it. Anyways, they also had a Sony W1 listed at 449 but with a clearance sign and i'm sure i could have got that for 25% off too. Only one W1 left was the display model. The S410 was 439. Damn tough choice, one with more expensive memory, one with more expensive battery. Took the s410 to the cash and it came up at regular price (439). So i pointed out it's a clearance model and it should be 25% off. The manager came over and glances in the flyer, and says "yeah, it's 25% off". Funny thing is..i'm not sure who keyed in the %off but somebody keyed in 40.....So i walk outta there with an S410 at $268+tax plus i get a $10 gift card. Wonder if i could have taken the SD300 over and said "that's a clearance model" and got 25% ...err even 40% off... ??

Hey, I just PMed two San Disk Compact Flash II 512 MB since Staples has them for 99.95 dollars each.

I paid 40 dollars each for two Sandisk Compact Flash II cards that FS is selling for 69.95.

So if you are looking for a Compact Flash card try to PM it.

Isn't tonight re-stocking night at Staples? They might appear to be in stock, but in reality its not.
OOS for me too. How stupid and misleading.

That's how it was at all staples locations during the last big sale a few months back. I did get what I wanted though! An awesome plastic table I use every day now.

In the gift certificates, i secured the card online. I scratched the grey part to get my pin #. That is ok right?
Because while securing the card it asks for the pin #.
Yes that's fine. Because when you use the gift card the cashier will need to scratch it off themself. And if you have balance remaining they return it to you with it scratched.

So just to confirm, we can't use our gift cards online correct?

The $200 Zire+Lexmark bundle - $100 MIR discussed in a previous thread is an even better deal. The Zire 21 is a great BASIC PDA if you don't need to spend hundreds of dollars more for MP3, colour, Net access, digicam & other unnecessary luxuries.

have anybody bought Palm Zire 21 8MB for $89.99? is it any good?

Office Depot had a cross cut shredder on sale today for half price ($35). Dunno if it's still available now...
Hmmm I saw one for $28 today at OD with basket.
