I've read other accounts that say it's doable, but you're better off hitting up your local public library for a few textbooks. Free is a price you can afford, if you're paying nearly a grand for the tests...

Pretty much. Most people study on their own and pass with no problems. Same with all the other Comptia/MS certifications. Also search on the forums for further A+ certification discussion.

A+ is easy, just go into Indigo/Chapters on a weekend (Saturday and Sunday if you need two days), grab a book, grab a cup of coffee and you're all set.

A grand? That's a little steep. I did mine last week, both tests cost me $171USD combined.

I think they're pertty easy to get. I tried some practice exams before and I scored quite high on them, even though I knew most of the stuff already. Never bothered actually getting them due to costs.

I read an A+ Complete Guide book cover->cover years ago. Passed both no probs... I stink at studying so people should have no probs :)
