Well I was on my way to town when i stopped at a red light. Beside me was a Giant Tractor Trailer in the left hand turn lane, and a van beside me and cars behind me. All of a sudden (while the light is still red) The trasport truck decides he no longer want to turn left and starts turning into me, I see him and start laying on the horn, 5 seconds later he hits me and doesnt stop, he pushed me about 3 feet sideways andthen the transport truck climed up onto the car, on the drivers side, BEHIND the wheel (right at the windshield post) At this point, 3 feet off the ground he final decides to come to a stop. He never heard my horn, or even felt a thing untill his truck started to climb.. He got charged with unsafe lane change. Thank god it was a rental

Wow. That's scary! So he came to stop, and realized the puck up, then what? Was he at least apologetic, or he was just playing dumb? At least he didn't drive away.

No they did not, the truck driver wrote himself the ticket for unsafe lane change.
Remember, there are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

I don't get it... he wrote himself a ticket? People can do that? Unsafe lane change also seems way too light of a charge compared to reckless driving or something else.

It goes like this:
Dear Me,
I made a booboo today, I turned my steering wheel to the left without checking first and crashed into somebody. Therefore I will pay the fine of $250 for unsafe lane change to myself and also deduct 3 demerit points from my own license.
Signed by,
Me.

Weird... was Canuck_2005 previously futureshopexposed.com? And was his name forced to be changed to something else? Because, on the threadlist it shows futureshopexposed.com as the user ID, and in the thread itself it shows Cancuk_2005
Was it a "Giant" tractor trailer as in the size or as in Giant Tiger the company? Because you capitalized it

I my own defense, I had mistaken McLaren's post to be the OPs and hence though the OP was telling us what the truck driver did.

I'm surprised the truck driver didn't call his company. I don't think he, nor his company, would want their insurance to go up because of this incident. I had a friend who had a similar experience and she was given the total book value of her car as well as a fairly large payment for trouble. If I were you, I'd contact the company the guy was driving for and demand some sort of compensation.
What company was he driving for?

I think it was meant as a joke. Though not a very funny one.

Well, with the frenzy of people suing others for their own mishaps, like spilling coffee on themselves or getting crushed by the car they're stealing, then writing a ticket for oneself isn't too far-fetched an idea.

And in other news....
http://www.futureshopexposed.com/ now says "error" (the rest of the site other than the home page is still active, though).
I'm guessing there are lawyers involved.

Easy ! just go to the nearest Walmart and buy a "self ticket" of any pre-set value.
They sell 50.00, 100.00, 250.00 and 500.00 tickets, so we dont have to waste time now waiting for the cops.
In the US, Walmart also sells criminal convictions for those who got involved in serious crimes.
