Hi there!
I'm wondering, do you think there will be sales on professional DSLR's like the new Canon 20D in the boxing day? Do you have any idea about which shop in Vancouver that has discounts on this kind of things ? The 20D is not available neither in Futureshop nor in Best Buy. I found it in London Drugs, Lens & Shutter and few other shops. I'm new in Canada so I don't know if these shops have good sales.
Thank you very much for your help :)

A friend of mine recently bought the 20D (body only) for $1800 (10% off $2000 sale price) after about 1.5 hr of talking.
So, there is hope.
That said, this time next year the 20D will be $1500. :D

you might have a hard time find good discounts on this kind of big-ticket item. also, for such a big purchase, why not buy from a retailer outside BC (e.g. Carman's FotoSource in Ontario) and save the PST (only if shipping < PST). i think your best bet is to find a store that you can build a relationship with. I chose InterPro Photo on Howe Street across from Pacific Centre Mall. There's also Broadway Photo, Dunne & Rundle, etc, etc. Once you start a good relationship with a store, you can easily get competitive deals on flashes, lenses, batteries, CF cards, bags, etc, etc. There's lots of accessories for DSLR's - you have more chances to score deals.

I bet on the 20D, you can easily get 10% off by bargaining, which brings the price down to $1800.
I got 10%+ off when I bought my 10D with just a simple phonecall to the store saying I'll leave a deposit and pick it up later in the day.
anything more than that would be gravy but don't expect it.
Another way you can save for expensive items like that is to buy from a store out of province. You'll save on your provincial tax.
