Ebay questions.

It happened several times to me that I got outbidden by others, sometimes I wasn't even the next high bidder in line, but within 2 hrs or so of auction close, the seller emailed to sell the product to me at my max bid amt. Is it legal???

How do you rank the followings in terms of safer payment methods?

Paypal credit card
Paypal via bank acct
Money order
Cashier check
Personal check
Credit card not going through paypal

Yup, if the seller has more than 1 item they can offer it to you as a 2nd chance ... paypal offers their own protection plan for what it's worth , credit cards also offer some measure of protection, ... caveat emptor.

as long as it's a "Second Chance Offer" sent by <a href=../autolink/redirectpage.php?linkid=78 target=_blank>eBay</a> on the behalf of the seller. the seller himself should not contact you directly though to offer you the product.

ALWAYS PAY THROUGH YOUR CREDIT CARD...

most credit cards have online purchasing security... so you can get your money back if you don't receive the item.

i use paypal... i hate paypal because they are such a rip off... but i have no choice...

i got scammed out of something i bought off <a href=../autolink/redirectpage.php?linkid=78 target=_blank>ebay</a> for 400 bucks.... my RBC visa got me back my money.

Well, not in this case though. Seller has only 1 item to sell. What makes me suspious is that in no more than 2 hours after auction closing, seller sent email using <a href=../autolink/redirectpage.php?linkid=78 target=_blank>ebay</a> forwarding system. One of the reasons is the winning bidder not able to complete the transaction. Seller also gave email address to reply. Is it legal? One thing I forgot to check if those higher bidders not eligible to bid.

I dont like paypal anymore. There is a spending limit you can use your credit card and don't offer to upgrade the limit even if your acct is in good standing.

That does sound fishy. If you don't want to post the auction #, make sure it's a legit seller (check feedback, etc.). Also ask him to send you a "2nd chance" request. That way you're at least covered for the <a href=../autolink/redirectpage.php?linkid=78 target=_blank>ebay</a> protection (less $25 deductable) and paypal protection (max. 3 claims per year or so).

And as advised, always pay by credit card if possible (create another paypal account if you currently have funds in account).

My advice?

Just look for another vendor selling the item if you feel suspicious.

Go with you gut instinct.

There will ALWAYS be other vendors selling the product that you will feel more confortable dealing with.

Also another vote for pay with credit card.

Can one close a paypal account and create another with the same credit card? If that will work, how long should one wait between closing one and start up another one? Will paypal allow this? Will one run into any trouble? Just want to bump up the spending or sending limit of 2k. :)
