Actually...you'd have a crapload of views and 0 replies due to the fact that, anyone who reads it, would die from laughing.

MDG is not horrible.. its the idiot customers who buy stuff from them. I find it amazing they've been so successful but there's a sucker born every minute

They do good revenue, but screw the customers. Not that every other dealer is a saint, but some people I've talked to think that MDG is only a hair away from Dell. Pssh.

i bought a p4 1.4 from mdg, about 4 years ago, never had a problem with them
never had to call support but this was before they made it "big". when they were just a small company

i'd say

One of my friends was looking at buying a laptop. He said he was looking at this store down the street from him called MDG... I said "DON'T buy it from there" , but it from Dell or buy a brandname unit from Future Shop or something. Well, he didn't listen to me and probably ended up spending $400+ more than he had to. To top it off, his computer fried itself a few days after buying it and they needed like 2 weeks to fix the thing.

What really got me was that about a month before this he brought his old junk of a computer in and they charged him like $125 to $150 to replace a power supply and then upsold him to get Windows XP on his machine!! (like his computer was anywhere CLOSE to being able to handle it)

MDG aint that bad

I bought two comps from them

first one (when i was in gr 11) i bought a value comp and had nuthing but problems

but when i was in the market a few years ago for a new comp

i chose MDG simply bc they had the beast deals IMO

i would NEVER buy a comp from FS or BB
waste of money

just like i would NEVER buy a SONY or a TOSHIBA or some other useless name brand comp

my new MDG comp works just as good as the other comps bc i got a good system this time around

i think its FS and BB who overcharges for their products

I don't think draw of the luck is good enough for most people.

bump I was thinking about getting the HorizionBook 900 for $699, but after reading so many bad things about MDG, I think i'll pass

If there are so many complaints about MDG, maybe someone should get the media involved such as Silverman Helps (City TV) helps@citytv.com
and/or Street Cents (CBC) streetcents@cbc.ca

Maybe less people will get suckered into buying their products

MDG needs to be on RFD's retail ratings list, with negative stars.

In another thread, I mentioned MDG sending Cease & Desist letters... Here's one of those cases:

(I've received one, also, for a site I maintained...)

Absolutely not true. I hate MDG like the next guy, but there's been legislation in the past stating that customers are allowed to open the cases and inspect the components.

Can I be bothered to find links right now?.. no - because it's Friday and I'm outta here. Feel free to research it further.

Many companies will put a warranty sticker on and it will say something like, "Warranty may be void if sticker is removed". One of the companies I did business with had to change their stickers to that after the whole warranty debacle happened in the late '90s. (For those of you that remember, for many companies it was a big shiatstorm).

These days, most of the companies that still use these stickers are the ones that don't want you looking inside to see the cheap ass components they throw in a box and call a computer.

Speaking of that, If you own a MDG you should check it and see if they gave you the processor you paid for. I bought a 1.7ghz and got a 1.3ghz a while ago.

Oh man why are these crooks still in business? Cease & desist letters? Using the law on their side? Funny stuff.

Do you have a copy of those letters? I'd really like to read them, to see how they're managing to threaten people.

They still do that. Except they upgrade from an ATI Radeon X300 to an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900.

Isn't that really a downgrade?

Hmm, I bought from them a long while ago (few years back) didn't find anything wrong with it, everything was as mentioned. I split up the system except the mobo and cpu. Everything else was upgraded like 9700 pro and stuff. Also I used those otherparts and built another comp for my sis.

But, it's 300 to 900! ;)

I went into MDG only once, it's like a cesspool of snake oil salesmen.

Agreed. My dad wanted to go in there to look for his first computer. I insisted on coming. They were not happy to have someone in there who actually knows a *bit* about computers. I seem to remember a substitute PC instead of the flyer one that *looked* much nicer but had inferior specs than what was in the flyer.

Ahh, too bad. I suppose it probably had a clause of publically releasing the letter as well.

For those who is happy with their MDG, they just don't care what they get.

Do you know if you have the right part? Don't know and don't care.
Do you know if your OS is legit? Don't know and don't care.
What do you know? It is "good price".
BTW, do you use your computer? Hmmmm!

yuck i've had a couple of friends who bought mdg products and they've had nothing but trouble. surprisingly they were almost about to buy another product from mdg when i reminded them of the trouble they had and the fact that i would refuse to help them out if they went with mdg again.

thank god one of them went with a thinkpad and the otherone god a midlevel, havent had to help them once in two years. just made sure they were running windows autoupdate, a good antiviurs which autoupdated and they had a nat router and a firewall and they've been doing pretty good.

no hardware problems at least, with mdg it was a whole different story, and i have a violent allergic reaction when people mention they want to buy mdg. please stay away from them its not worth the risk. go with dell , a smaller computer reseller, or even a friend who might know how to build a pc (just offer to pay them 50 bucks, and you'll be doing yourself a world of service)
