Are the boxing day sales for online shopping or do you actually have to go to a retail location??

Online and in-store will generally have different items. Case in point: <a href=../autolink/redirectpage.php?linkid=28 target=_blank>NCIX</a> had some decent online deals last year, but in-store was the killer - $999 21 inch LCD monitor (1 per store)

Yes. However last year FS servers were extremely slow. Hopefully they have learned their lesson and it should be better this year.

I think last year it was 12 A.M. Pacific/ 3 A.M. EST. Maybe because FS is vancouver based.

And let us not forget the MIR fiasco!!! There were many of us who ordered and the date was the incorrect date to match up with the MIR, [depending on the time ordered;] I believe the error was that though in the west coast we'd be able to order the items starting @ 10 PM our time, thus the MIR ended up showing a date of the day before - in the end, FS decided to honor the MIRs, right? But in any event, watch the MIRs carefully - read the fine print, guys!

Since you're in SK, for you it will start at 2 AM December 25 (assuming it's CST in SK).

Thanks, i hope you are right. I will be leaving after lunch on the 25th and won't have a computer. So i will be able to wake up very early christmas morning (2 a.m.) and get the deals. Can anyone else confirm this?

Actually, now that I think about it, I don't think I ordered anything from FS last Boxing Day so I can't say for sure. But two years ago when I did buy something online from FS, this was the case (i.e. the sale started Dec 25).

Last year the sale prices were posted at 12 A.M. EST Dec 25th (which was 10pm MST Dec 24th for me) and the server was crippled and overloaded with users. Some of the deals began appearing as early as 9:30pm MST, and slowly over the next 30minutes all the deals were activiated. I took me over an hour to check-out due to extremely slow load times. But, I received everything I wanted. Throughout the 25th/26th they replenished their supply of items, so even though something was sold out you might get lucky and catch it in stock later in the day.

Best of luck bargain hunters!

Last year, I was looking for the WD 80GB, and 160GB hard drives from FS ($50, and $100 after rebate), and the online stock was pretty spotty. Even later in the day, the B&M's had quite a few left. They did replenish the stock online after they sold out, so you had to check the webpage regularly if you wanted one

Funny how after a year later, that was still a pretty good deal for a HD.

I hope their servers can withstand the load better.

last year i bought the Toshiba 46" HDTV from futureshop for 1699. There were 100 available, sold out in around 15 minutes. By the time i checked out they were gone.
The boxing day sales at <a href=../autolink/redirectpage.php?linkid=28 target=_blank>NCIX</a> werent as bad, i bought a liteon LVD2002 dvd player for 129 i think, and a radeon 9600xt with HL2 coupon for 235 if i remember, not a bad deal for a year ago.

If you want to do it online you better have patients, last year I was ordering some stuff on boxing day but I wasn't ordering anything on sale and it took 25 minutes to process the order.

No, it won't because all the Boxing day item use a different item code (or number) than the usual code. For example, the usual item code is 123456 but in Boxing day sale it will use 234678.

Most of FS items are labeled as "Door Crasher". Does it mean, it's in store only?
And all the wide screen TV for BB are labeled as ### total available. Does it mean, it only online, not in store?
BTW, is BB going to have online boxing day sale just like FS's like year?

1. Door Crasher items were also available on-line last year. So, I expect they will do the same this year.

2. If BB do the on-line Boxing Day sale like FS, base on FS last year experience some items were "re-stock" after few hours they were sold-out. If you are talking in-store only, I am not sure how many will be available.... may be more (mostly) but not less than the labled available items.

3. Good question. May be BB do the same as FS, may be not.

I hope BB will do the online sale like FS. They do have some good items for sale for boxing day. And I'm not willing to freeze to get those deals.

Can you price match online for the boxing day sales or will you just end up not getting anything because by the time they check the price at the other location they will be OOS??

I gather there is always this option (even if unintended):

shop at the same store, prior to Boxing Day. If you get the Boxing Day price, return the first item.

Source (http://forums.redflagdeals.com/showthread.php?t=125136&page=1&pp=15)

(It seems that the instore or online pricematch would be precluded since it is a "limited time offer.")

Don't feel it's good to start the new thread so I am using this old thread because it is more suitable. I just tried to add some items using Web ID from the actual flyer and from the web Boxing Day flyer to a wish list and it works (so do FS). So, if the actual Boxing Day web ID (at least from the actual flyer) will be the same when the sales start, it will make the successful rate higher to get the hot items. BTW, it is only happen some items but not all.
