Actually saw 3 of the pics on this list so far; usually I'm batting 0-fer. Not bad.

I agree with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Collateral. I'm surprised that Zach Braff's (Scrubs) Garden State isn't on that list.

The Aviator isn't even out yet, is it?

Eternal Sunshine is a great movie, but it came out last year.

i'm surprised that kinsey is on this list, i read multiple reviews that said this was one of the worst remakes ever done

Seen so far (mode/rating)

THE AVIATOR (dvdrip screener / 7.5 stars)

COLLATERAL (theater / 9.0 stars)

ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND (theater / 10.0 stars)

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

THE INCREDIBLES (theater / 9.0 stars)

KINSEY (dvdrip / 7.0 stars)

MARIA FULL OF GRACE

MILLION DOLLAR BABY (SVCD / 10.0 stars)

SIDEWAYS (DVDRip / not seen yet, tonight?)

SPIDER-MAN 2 (theater / 8.0 stars)

Out of these movies I would pick Million $ baby as Best Pic (for Oscars) just because of all the great actors in it. I would love to see Jim Carrey win the best actor in ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND but...it be very difficult due to his past work. Best female lead will be Hilary Swank (#2 for her) House of Flying Daggers will win best inter'n movie

TOTALLY agree. Garden State was one of the best movies I've ever seen. And the soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal. A TRULY underrated movie.

ha, that's weird, i had somewhat an opposite reaction

i thought it was overrated by many. it really didn't tell much of a story, and for me, a truly great film must have it all. yes, the performances were excellent, and the soundtrack was full of enjoyable selections, but it seemed to cover ground that had been done before, and as i said earlier, the plot was pretty mediocre--two quirky people from dysfunctional families meet and fall in love, then have adventures with other quirky people--that was it.

i suggest viewing some hal hartley films from the 1980s to see what i mean.

on a different note, if anyone ever tells you to see napoleon dynamite, shoot them in the head--it will save you from losing two hours that you'll never get back.

Just watched Sideways and it was excellent. I haven't seen a couple of the other contenders but I think this movie has a good chance of winning picture of the year.
