I have a male lab mix puppy for sale. I just got it today but I have to get rid of it since I am suffering from allergies. He is only 1.5 months old. I am located in Mississsauga. Please call 416 822 3178 if interested. This dog has not had any shots, I was planning to do all that but because of my allergies I am not able to give him a good home.

Dog comes with a crate, a new big unopened bag of dog food, dog toys and dog treats.

Asking $100 obo

That is the cutest Dog I have ever seen!
Too bad I can't have one, my siblings are allergic to animals.
My Parents wouldn't want one either, they would end up taking care of it since I am away from home at University.

But Once Again, That Dog is SOoOoOoOo Cute! :D

It says so right at the beginning of the thread that it is a "male lab mix puppy"

Guess everyone is enamoured with the puppy....LOL ;)

Gotta admit he is damn cute...I would have to say it does look much more like a Chow-Chow than Lab genes.

As far as I can tell, I believe there should be at least 3 shots needed plus a bunch of other things such as checking the eyes etc., in all it will cost several hundreds more to have it Vet checked and up to date on health etc.

At only 1.5 months its going to need full-training for potty and basic commands I would believe.

Usually dogs/puppies are made available for sale about 3 months after birth, so this is kind of early to be separated from its mom....or so what I've read....correct me if I'm wrong ;)

Either way....hopefully someone will be able to take the puppy and give it a proper home!

BUMP for the PUPPY! :cheesygri

Whats the mix on this dog. Doesn't look like a lab, and would be interested in taking him if he was a smaller breed, as a lab wouldn't go down well in my apt.

I had to give away my 6 month old puppy last year cause I left the country. Had her since she was 7 weeks. And was a fairly big dog (Hound/Sheppard Cross) for an appartment. I would say 6-7 weeks is around the age they are sold, but is the perfect age to train. I had mine potty trained (for the most part) crate trained, sit, lay down, stay, etc within a month.

Shots etc, depend on the vet, are about 80 bucks or so each, maybe less. You need 3 sets within the first 6 months. After 6 months you should get the dog neutered, about $150 or so.

IMO a pet is the absolute best money you can possibly spend, and would have paid 10 times what I did on my dog in a heartbeat.

7-8 weeks is normal, but some pet stores push it to 6 or so....So shouldnt be a problem, just a little less than ideal. I'm sure with a good owner he'll be just fine.
Nice looking dog....it'd be interesting to know what the "mix" is. Hopefully the new owner tapes his ears up soon. And in addition to getting his shots PLEASE get him Neutered (so many good reasons).
Note folks, that the $100. he's asking barely covers the cost of crate, food and other supplies included, so the dog is basically free (not that this should be a major factor in getting him).

I'd love to take him, but we have 2 already (Golden and a Husky)....and make no mistake about it, adorable as they are, puppies are a lot of work.
but this one deserves as many bumps as allowable. I vote for an exemption to the 24hr rule.

you sound like you know a lot of owning a dog. can you please tell me what would be the shot process of a dog this age? i'm considering taking him.

Old article on vaccinations by CBS here (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/09/04/earlyshow/contributors/debbyeturner/main520791.shtml)

"Dogs -

A dog should be given a rabies shot during its first 12 weeks, boostered at one year, then boostered every one or two years.

Dogs can be subjected to distemper combination. They include Distemper virus which can be either respiratory or neurologic — usually seen as seizures or paralysis with sudden onsets. Young puppies may experience gastrointestinal disease, Parvovirus, that causes severe vomiting and diarrhea. Dogs can also contract Coronavirus that looks almost exactly like Parvovirus. Puppies may experience Adenovirus, a respiratory disease, usually with a dry hacking cough and this can be fatal. Puppies should also be careful of Parainfluenza virus that looks almost exactly like Adenovirus. Vaccinations against these should be given at 6-8 weeks, repeated every three weeks until the dog is 16 weeks old, then boostered annually (this is one shot that contains all these vaccinations).

Other dog viruses are Leptospirosis — a bacteria that affects the kidneys for which more than an annual booster may be needed; Bordetella (kennel cough) that is especially important in dogs that will frequent kennels, training class or groomers and for show dogs. In the latter case, it may be necessary to booster more frequently than yearly. A shot against Lyme disease is recommended in areas where the brown deer tick is prevalent. The first dose of Lyme disease is given twice at three-week intervals starting at 12 weeks old, then boostered annually.

There is a new breed of vaccines on the horizon created through recombinant gene technology. Perhaps this will eliminate risks and provide the adequate protection. There is only one on the market right now for dogs called Recombitek (for distemper).

Overall, pets need a series of vaccinations when they're young. Turner says people don't understand why they need to keep bringing their animals back for the same shots several times.

The reasoning is because the mother’s antibodies protect the animal when they're nursing but then they start to decrease when the animal weans. The mother's antibodies inhibit the vaccinations so you do the series to help the animal build its own protection as the mother's protection is decreasing. "

Hope that helps shed some light.

Great read up on "Looking after your new Puppy" found here (http://www.petplanet.co.uk/petplanet/kids/kidspuppy.htm)

Good luck, and BUMP for anyone interested in such a damn cute puppy!
