I guess because all posts are assumed to be Canadian. The US flag is there for the rare US related deal. Still, it might be a good idea to add the flag.

Exactly, for the the most part, everything should be Canadian.

Also, the US flag is abused by some members (Neilson) when debating in the off topic section. Problem is we cannot use a Canadian flag icon to offset the "icon imbalance".

Perhaps the US flag is there so if you dont want to look at the American deal you dont have to click on it. You know immediately you want nothing to do with it. Other people do. Drop it.

what about american rfd users who use it when flaming a political argument in the off topic section. shouldn't we have a canadian flag icon then?

Yeah, if you were in a flame war and had a canadian flag icon handy, it'd make your argument much stronger.

A US flag icon was used in that thread which is exactly what the American flag icon was designed to be used for.
I'm not sure how exacty the US flag can be abused as a post icon when debating in the off topic section since it can only be used with that particular post. If you wanted to, you could simply use the image tag to post a Canadian flag in your post.
Back to the original intent of the icon, it's to signify what content is inherently US, which is the exception to the rule, so that readers can choose to skip over if they please.
On a unrelated note. We would really appreciate it if you use the forums.redflagdeals.com address rather than the IP, especially since we seem to be upgrading/moving to new servers quite often that the IP easily change.

I think a CDN flag would be beneficial ... (and would be used all over the place) ... it would help us know if a deal is applicable to all of Canada .... vs a specific province...

I do not ABUSE my flag; I represent it. See? Here I go using it, Go USA and Sweet Home Alabama. btw, Auburn vs. Alabama @ 3:30 EST on CBS Saturday. Watch it to see real football, and yea I know about Grey Cup. But this rivalry is what made football in the South worth watching!!!! Go Auburn and War Eagle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People in the States are a lot of things. You can call them dumb, arrogant etc.
I am not a big fan of Americans. They already raped Canada of all its resources. But one thing I have always admired about the US is their National Pride. They will die for the flag.
You can't say the same for Canada or any other country.
I don't think we need an Icon as the Moderators mentioned. The flag is used for American deals and I think that is a great idea.
If you want a flag. Stick it in your Avatar or your signature.

I think Muslims will only die for Religion. Country don't count, as Muslims are everywhere.

That is not the same as having it seen when you scan all the forum topics. My avatar would not show up there. It would be only fair to have a canadian flag shown in topic forum listings to identify a mainly caanadian content political issue. Like the Parrish matter.
Either the flag is used for hot deals mainly like derek said, or it is abused by people like neilson.

Well, we did beat the Americans in the only war we fought against each other. We ended up chasing them so far into the US that we torched their whitehouse, got bored, and came back to drink.

I think it was the Grey house back then.... they had to paint it white after the fire...

absolutely :)
most peeps do not have a firm and respectful grasp of history, which is why in the end virtually all world powers fail.
i still can't believe i'm lobbying for a simple "balance of power" in the flag icon thingy - you'd think i was on an american site... :)
technically all'd you do is replace one of the pre-exisiting icons graphic file with a canuck flag. simple, easy and fair.

Maybe the solution is to replace the USA flag with letters that says US Deal
