I think RFD should increase the Mailbox limit to 1GB like Google!
okay, seriously, I think we should increase mail box sizes from 125 messages to something like 250 or even 500. :cheesygri
Take the Poll and Let RFD Know.

250 would be nice. it's nice to keep PM logs while you are in a trade just in case. 125 is not enough.

Or you could get off your ass and clean out your messages once in awhile.

Ive seen some forums that keep all replies with the same subject title within one thread that is transferred between each recipient. So you can go back and forth a million times and it counts as one thread. While its in the other persons inbox its not in yours so you always have space available.

Just to add to that... you can also download your messages to your hard drive in a number of different formats.

~ I think this is a good feature in RFD that very often goes overlooked ~
~ I guess tips and reminders for people, would be handy ~
I totally forgot RFD had this feature...
I personally like to inquire a lot and therefore receive many messages from different users...usually never go over 120, and will always clean up my mailbox, if 125 comes close.
Only reason I brought this up was, I have sometimes run into members whose mailbox is full and therefore can't receive my PM.
This is frustrating knowing I might not be able to get in on a deal.

I would say be courteous.
Increasing amount mailbox = increase costs.

this would be "pulling a google" ... and would keep the PM count down .... and allow members to keep their history ....

125 is allright, I think 150 would make a bit more sense in terms of being a more "even" number. On the other hand, if you really need to keep a log you can just d/l them your computer.

125 is more then enough. Heck that number could even be lower IMO. I think it's time you tidy up!

Is there a reason you need more than 125? Honestly, if you're getting spammed and it's filling up your Inbox, just report the spammer.

my PMs usually hover between 100 and 120 but if we could somehow get the "Google" thing going that # would fall to somewhere between 20 to 30 and all of our max limits could drop to about 50, therefore actually releiving the message board of uneccessary bandwidth.

I thought by 'pull a google' you meant take the company public. Now that would be a good idea! :cheesygri :cheesygri

i'm sorry if the title is misleading, just didn't know how else to word it and make it seem interesting.

I'd love more space. I must be a a message hog or something but it's always a battle for me to keep it less than full. It's like a tug-of-war of sorts.
I realize you can download the messages but sometimes it's nice to have everything there at your fingertips. :cheesygri
And I know things can add up but how much space can these messages possibly take up compared to the forum itself?

it would be nice to have more, but at least its 125 and not 50 :)
if rfd did add some special premium features such as increased mailbox etc for a small paypal fee , I would probably sign up.

do you think that sent items should be saved into the box? They seem to take up most of my room, but i do find it useful sometimes, ....hmm..i dunno wat u guys/gals think?

I think it's always good to have a record of past messages. The cost has got to be negligible for PM's.
Just look at the forums. There are something like a million posts stored. If each was 1 kb on average (I'm overestimating on purpose), that's only a gigabyte. Hard drives are so cheap nowadays. The DNS and bandwidth costs have got to be way more than one-time hardware costs.
There's no extra bandwidth required to make big mailboxes. In fact, capping them probably increases bandwidth usage a tad because users will consume bandwidth during cleanup time, looking at old messages etc.
I say go for it, RFD. Not many people will have huge inboxes. If the highest posters have around 10,000 posts, they'll have far fewer PM's. Just make it unlimited, and I doubt RFD will even feel the difference let alone regret it.

i think RFD should go public...like google...and make its creaters FRIGGEN BILLIONAIRES!!!
okay maybe millionaires...
check that...maybe they could pocket a few g's...
or maybe...just maybe...they could sell some shares for dollar off coupons at costco...
