1) Can I edit my list? I... uh... wasn't quite thinking properly when I made my list.
2) Can I put an item on my list that currently shows as OOS on FutureShop's website?

You can edit your list. It's probably best if you pick items that are in stock.

Also, the ipod photo is too expensive for this contest. You can however try for an ipod mini. Keep in mind the 400$ cap (before taxes and rebates).
Best of luck!

Don't worry; you only need a forum account for the $400 thread contest. Even if you just joined up for this contest, they won't exclude you. :)
The other contests don't require a forum account.

not much was specified about having less than $400.
so if we have less than 400.... does that mean we're still in the good? or the whole idea is to try and get $400 on the exact number...?
i think this might be an important detail.... for those of us that havnt hit the $400 wish list.

Next year I think if you're going to have contests you should set a date of when the user must be registered on RFD ie 3 months prior to the contest date. You're going to have too many people creating multiple accounts and also users registering on RFD just to enter the contest.

I see your point and it's very valid. However if you're going to hold multiple contests I think it's only fair to have one open to everyone and also have one with a little more restrictions. It's not really fair to RFD members that contribute to the forums regularly then suddenly to have a new member registering just to enter the contest and perhaps win. It's safe to say that you guys probably have had a lot or new registrations as of late strictly due to your contests. Some will remain member and contribute but some will probably forget their username and password after the 28th. Just my 2 cents.

You wouldn't, anyone can post a thread, no matter when they joined or how many posts they have to their name.
I would have to agree with Degenerate here as well as Ryan. Yes these contests give the incentive to some people to join, but once the contest is over, they just leave. There are right now 18602 members. If you look at the number of people who join and post nothing or close to that, that makes up about 1/5th of the whole forum, if not more.
Just out of curiosity, do you guys do any cleaning to remove the nonactive members from the database?
Ryan
Nov 27th, 2004, 07:28 PM
About 14000 are active.
Lots of people just have accounts to trade and buy stuff. Post count means nothing. There's no point in being an elitist.
Frankly, the more people that enter, the better prizes we are able to obtain for the next contest.

After the grand prize draw was announced, RFD held a 2nd contest of contacting RFD with the hottest deal (http://www.redflagdeals.com/deals/main.php/weblog/comments/16023/). Which deal was voted hottest & won the digital camera prize?

FutureShop.ca donated prizes for the contest. Anything that is sponsored is marked as such.
We might have a few small contests in the near future, but nothing too big for a while. Setting up contests is lots of work.
There is no official way that you must organize your wish list. As long as it totals $400 or less and you meet the eligibility requirements (one entry per person... we will be checking for dupes) your list is eligible.
We'll put up the poll for the hot deals contest tonight.

When I made my wishlist it was just under $400, but now (since I guess a couple items were on sale) it's well over $400. Is this OK or should I re-do it?

You should redo it.

Would it be counted as a double entry if another person in my house(hence same ip) makes a thread as well?

yea i have the same question.
My bro wants to join too. first i told him that its not fair to join just for the contest,
but i asked before, and ppl said its alright to join for the contest, and almost half of this part of the forum is by new users. but he uses my account to post some messages, (I stopped him now),
so yea would it matter if he was in the wish list too.

WOO-HOO! The draw is getting nearer and nearer. Is anyone excited? Duh, of course!
Shoot, too bad I won't be here when the draw takes place to see who wins all the lovely prizes. :cheesygri I would love to have been among all the excitement. Hope I can find internet access at the hotel.
Anyhoo, just wanted to say GOOD-LUCK to everyone! And also this is a wonderful community, I wish I had discovered it earlier! That's pretty much it.

i think its completely true about people joining just for the contest and that should be taken into account... although i wouldnt have the faintest clue how to do that, however i am sure there are a number of people just like me that use the redflagdeals webpage on a constant basis and dont use the forums... joining the forums just so happens to be coincedentally around the time contest was started.
and as i find redflagdeals to be a valuble source of information regarding good deals which will save me tons since i am a university student and have a very tight budget... i'm sure you'll see me much more often on these forums :)

What if some lists have outdated prices? Either way i'm guessing futureshop would not increase the price of those items but does that matter? I haven't checked my list in a while to see if it's still current, and I'm not talking about prices changing because they are on special, just if they changed their regular price.
Thanks.

What if some lists have outdated prices?
From what I read of the rules, if your list is now over $400 you'll still win, but will have to reduce it to under the $400 mark.
