Here's a suggestion: Get a better webserver! It's obvious the one being used now isn't capable of handling the PHP script loads. I've noticed as soon as the number of people on the boards exceeds about 350-400, the thing starts to slow downs. 2-3 second delays between views, even slower when board count is in the 600-700 range. Sometimes, if I click on a post, it doesn't do anything, or starts rendering but can't finish. Very frustrating IMO.

Thanks for listening.

How many RFD affiliate purchases have you made recently? If N<10, consider donating a server....

Well then your in a bind because your not giving your advertisers/affiliates what their paying for. The more painful this place gets to navigate because of a Celeron CPU server, the more people will leave. It's too the point that I'm getting timed out about 10-20% of the time.

If you want to grow you have to invest in your enterprise. Just basic Business 101. ;)

The servers have been updated multiple times in the past few months. The site just keeps growing faster then they can upgrade.

Yep, we're on 4 servers now.

I think the current slowdown might be caused by some work our host is doing. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

The servers are also Dual Xeon 2.8's with 2GB RAM each by the way. I'm definitely not getting 10-20% time outs. In fact, it seems relatively quick for me until we get around 700 or so.

What's weird is one second it's snappy, and the other it's stalled. Like right now, I got here here and every thing is fine as far as speed and there's 628 people here. But earlier today there was only 540 and I got 2 time outs in a row.

This morning it is unusually fast, go RFD! I've still received three "Page Cannot be Found" errors, out of 30 threads I've opened.
