Does anyone know? It's 100$ bones right now isn't it? I want to buy one when the new handhelds come out (it'll be cheaper?), will I be losing an arm and two legs for it?
Thanks.

I don't really recall hearing it being limited. ToyRus's gold(was it gold?.....I can't remember exactly.) and Zellers' green ones are more like limited than the NES theme one. Personally I think it's pretty ugly.:) The FC version looks way better.

Every seller on e-bay says it's limited, so I'm assumimg they all know something I don't, or maybe they are just trying to make a buck. I remember seeing a lady from Nintendo do an interview about it, and it did sound like it probably was, a limited issue, for older gamers.
What's the FC version? Do you remember the NES gamepad, does the Advance look like the same thing or do you just not like it either way?

FC=Famicom, basically the Japanese version of NES. That version of GBA SP looks hella neater......well personally I thought so anyway.

Indeed, I prefer the looks of the FC version too and the Boktai edition looks pretty awesome as well.

Yeah, the Boktai edition is based on a special game which has an attachment on the cartridge that reacts to how much sunlight you are near, and it incorperates that into the game, it's pretty cool, but I'm not sure how much luck you would have finding one on ebay.

hehe I've got both the Famicom and Boktai editions mentioned above :cheesygri With the coffin too! had to import it though obviously.
The mario and zelda editions are only available in Europe according to IGN.
I'd actually like to get the NES edition before it falls off the face of the earth. Anyone know if FutureShop is still carrying it? I was at the Richmond Hill location the other day and there were no more. I want to use my GC on them. I collect these so I'm looking for one in mint condition.
They were in stock when they were at $140 :-(

I had an extra Boktai with game actually but I sold it on ebay already (for only $130 US or so and I lost $$ on that one).

I do have an unopened one, so I'm not willing to part with it unless you can put up the big bucks, especially since I got it before the permanent price drop.

NES edition is rare now? I was at my local FS few days ago and saw at least 3,4 of them ther efor $99.99. I guess it's about as rare as say.......their silver NGC. Plenty were around but after the price drop(well that deal from FS screw up.) then and they are not around anymore after that. FS.ca still have them though so probably just the FS location around my place.

It might just be me, but I can't understand your last sentence. It doesn't make any grammatical sense to me. Anyway, the NES classics ediition Gameboy Advance SP sold fairly well, and it is suppose to be a limited edition run, so once they're gone, I don't think there will be anymore.

yeah like i said I hope to grab one at $100 (using GC of course hehe) before they become extinct.
Also there is the Tribal edition supposedly at EBGames and a Who Are You edition at Walmart. See links below.

If anyone sees these in store or good deals let us know. They have so many limited editions of GBA SP it's hard to keep up! For example this is like the 5th and 6th pokemon editions ..

The NES classic edition GBASP is about as limited as the Platinum edition GameCube. Easy to find while they're available, but once they're gone, they're gone. It's a good nostalgic design for those who owned a NES. (I had a Famicom, so I like the Famicom edition better. Heh.)
"Boktai" is the experimental game from Hideo Kojima, designer of the Metal Gear Solid series. The name stems from the Japanese title, "Bokura no Taiyou" ( 僕らの太陽 ), which means "Our sun".
Personally, I'm not a big fan of the two-tone cover/unit design, especially at the joint. The new Zelda edition looks quite neat, though. Though I'm still not going to buy another GBASP now with the DS on the horizon...

The DS isn't a gameboy, it's another console by Nintendo.

I didn't say it wasn't a handheld console. All I am saying is the DS is another console joining the Nintendo family in addition to the Gameboy.

Exactly. The DS is not the successor of the GBA SP but rather a third product.

It does play at least GBA games though. Beside, they probably wanted to use the gameboy name since it's been so good for them but wanted to let people know it's not just another portable gaming system.

The GBA SP is compatible with original Gameboy games, while the DS is not.

You appear to be missing my point. I already own a Glacier GBA and a Cobalt SP, although the R button on my SP is having minor issues right now. Thus, with the release of the DS on the horizon, I do not believe that it is a good idea to go out and buy another SP when the DS will play GBA games. (No, I don't own any original GB/GBC games.)

right...... so the DS will compete directly with the SP, sounds like some major Channel conflict there unless they plan on marketing the DS as something to have ALONG with your SP, you may find that people who are looking to replace their SP will get a DS instead. It doesn't matter that it doesn't carry the Gameboy name, its still a handheld device that will play games.

I got that :D Bought it off eBay for just over $300 USD. Came with a limited edition handbook too! I'm a huge collector of these but there are just too many now.
This one is one of the most expensive next to the really limited edition Famicom (it's like $1000 or so) and the chassis trade-ins.

Sorry didn't see your message earlier. As mentioned, yes I got the Famicom one, just not to ultra rare one that was going for $1000+ US a while back. If I had money I would buy it. But since it's already at such a high price I'm not sure if I can get it back if resold many years later. This was the one only available in a lucky draw for Japanese subscribers sending in tokens from games. Looks like the top one in this pic :

I also have the following GBA SP I've been collecting, all are in mint condition brand new, went straight into acid free protective bags as soon as I got 'em :cheesygri
Gameboy Advance SP (Black/Onyx, Pearl Blue, Pearl Pink, Gold Toys 'R' Us Exclusive, Lime Zellers Exclusive, Boktai Edition w/coffin, Mana Blue & Legend of Seiken Edition, Pearl White Final Fantasy Tactics Edition, NES Classic, Famicom, Pokemon Torchic Orange Edition, Kyogre Blue, Groudon Red)
That's a lot they came out with and I'm still missing quite a few (Mega Man editions, Onyx/Platinum, the other Pokemon editions, ultra rare Famicom, etc.)

I just looked up my in my email history, I actually had TWO extra Boktai sets. Strangely enough BOTH were sold at $152.50 + $10 shipping, US dollars, but I threw in different bonus accessories (eg. GBA SP earphones, screen protector, pocket carry case, etc.) They were below the price I had bought it for ($190 US).
