Just a reminder that Survivor Vanuatu (http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor9/index.shtml) starts this Thursday if you have nothing to do.

Thanks for the update, I forgot about that..

Although Survivor has gotten stale, it's still worth watching. I like the whole human fishbowl type thing.

There's very little on TV that I watch these days, but Survivor is one thing I like to watch.

To people who don't watch it, just watch one episode and then make your mind up. It's always fun to see people reacting in those kind of environments.

Hope there's going to be some great cat fights :D

actually i've seen a couple of episodes and i despise it even more...amazing race is much better. and i would definitely prefer a scripted comedy, a show like csi or even a documentary on cbc or discovery. GOD - reality tv is aweful.

But this guy didnt even have a spear in his face, haha. He must be highly favoured by those... men

3 Asians that i can think of... Kel/beef jerky dude, Shi Ann/ms.annoying, and Daniel/guy who cant cross a balancing beem, similar to Chris from today's episode. And they didnt even boot his arse out. Pathetic

I predict a female winner, just like the Amazon.

I gotta agree. The first show seemed incredibly boring to me. So much infact that I didn't really care that missed entire segments of the show. Maybe, after 8 seasons I've finally had my survivor fill. The amazing race is a much better show now IMHO.

The worst thing about Survivor is that in all this time they haven't changed it one bit.

Sure they've done minor tweaks like when they brough people back, and men/women seperated. But for the most part the show is exactly the same from the first one.

To the point where they re-use the same challenges over and over again.

What I'd like to see is a true survivor. Just drop them off on an island and let them stay until they give up. No popularity contests, etc. You leave the island when you can't take it anymore. See how long they go.

I'm surprised none of you commented yet about how unfair the reward challenge was; those women have little itty bitty feet, and are all of 98 pounds {with the exception of that one chick whose fake boobs alone must weigh 98 pounds; you know, the one climbing the banana{plantain} tree. }Anyway - my point - I seriously think it was to the women's advantage that they are so small, and that their feet are so small; IMO it would have been more fair to proportionately prepare the boards so that the men would have the same amount of board [proportionately] as the women. What did you guys think, did that cross your minds?

Kudos to the guy with the arificial leg; that looked like a hard challenge!

That woman at the end did certainly rub it in their faces; I liked the way the men rejoiced with each other when they won the immunity [with the exception of the one guy] ; it seemed more celebratory rather than run-it-in-your-face kind of thing.

Too bad Dolly's gone (eye candy purposes) but yeah, she wouldn't have won it anyhow (she admitted herself that the game's too much for her). Woulda liked to see Scout go (all the damn useless old ladies that get carried far into the game). Oh well

Rory isn't going to last very long...hasn't shown much worth and clashes way too much with the others. I wonder what happens next week that causes both tribes to lose someone (some kind of tie in immunity?). And didn't something like that happen with the All-Stars one? Don't remember...

I'm glad Mia got voted off. I can't believe her final words. What a classless way to go, all she talked about was how horrible Twila was to her and that she lacked social skills rather than leaving on a positive note.

I also find Eliza extremely irritating. I hope she eats poison berries or something and gets laryngitis so she'll finally shut up.

Mia has always been a b****.

Just look at what she did during the reward challenge LAST week when she started dancing off the beam, what had she done during the challenge? Nothing.

During the vote, if she is unhappy with what was being said, she'd roll her eyes repeatedly...

After she gets her ass booted out, she's still on her temper tantrum and calls out Twila. There was a REASON why someone turned on Mia. She obviously doesnt get it.

Now, why is SCOUT taking on so many important roles in the tribe for challenges?
Last time, she was the downfall to the immunity challenge. She didnt notice a puzzle piece in the water even after being asked if there were any.
This time, she's the one throwing the hook to try getting the keys.
She'll either:
a) throw it extremely short of the target
or
b) swing the hook around repeatedly as if shes a cowboy

Did anyone notice that Dolly kinda looks like Jenna from the Amazons?

The guys are dumbasses.

These guys are worse than those from the Amazon when they were split by gender.
Regarding the reward challenge, they end up flipping more NEW items over so the women can see where to go for their next turn. If it were up to me, i'd choose the ones that have already been seen, so they dont see all the ones that have never been flipped. But jeez, none of those guys are really planning. Brady was the smartest guy there, but he was voted off.

I was really impressed with DAH. Walking up the tree, finding food, building beds...
Girls are looking good. Ami's smoking, and Eliza is just REALLY REALLY annoying.

If anyone, Scout will be voted off before Ami cause of the role she took up

As far as Ami telling viewers that Scout was the wisest, etc... She was obviously making stuff up. Scout has to be the worst player ever. (Not knowing the last puzzle piece was in the water which caused her team to lose, and now... dividing up the teams with NO logic at all.

i am hoping that Scout will be voted off next tribal council. she is dragging down the team... some ppl might blame eliza, but she cant take all of the blame. she had a good point, by having scout on the team, she is by default excused from the challenges cause she's an old crusty lady. but, at the same time... eliza doesnt have any excuses for not tryign during the tribal council.

I thought yesterday's episode where John got voted off was bad....They should stop having old and out of shape manipulators on the island. On the other hand I think Julie was so smart in manipulating Twila - making her think that Twila's alliance was broken. She deserves to win just for this - she really did outwit. And Rory - gotta feel for him.

Ami and Scout are the only lesbians to be on Survivor so far if I'm correct.

Ami and Julie are super HOT!!! WOW!!

I think Chad and Chris are dead meat now that they voted of JP. There was a little clip of Julie flirting big time with Sarge next week (who I absolutely detest). Anyhow, Sarge is so desperate (says he would take Twila as his gf or wife anyday) to get female attention, I think he's going to be persuaded easily by Julie and Twila and turn on the boys. And then he and Twila will turn on Julie once they get to a merge.

Ami, I didn't know was a lesbian until I read up on her after noticing she was super hot. However, I did mention to my gf during one episode that Ami has a very anti-male sentiment (i.e., one episode, she did not want to teach the guys who came over in the split about the hidden treasures of the island that they learned from that native guy after winning a reward challenge). ANyhow, she is a character I am tossed between...her and Rory.. funniest dude ever on Survivor IMO.

The guys were either:
a) drunk out of their minds and not thinking about the merge
or
b) really really stupid in believing that women can be trusted in this game.

Either way, it has proved that the men from Survivor are clueless. The only exceptions I will accept are Hatch, and Cesternino.

I was a fan of Rory..... didn't wanna see him go :(
I am still picturing last week..... "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! !"

By the way - is Ami gay?? I though Scout was the only one who was. It's really weird - if I got it correctly Ami was telling Julie how hot she was??

Not only did this past episode reveal how stupid the men were, it also revealed how stupid the 2 women were.

Julie and Twila have a MUCH better chance persuading the men (afterall, they're idiots) than the women. Twila is just a floater, she really doesnt do much... kinda like Scout. Like entre3 said, if Scout or Twila make it into the finals, i'll forever ban myself from future Survivors...

My prediction:
Ami and Julie in the finals

It wouldn't be the first time someone made it to the end who didn't deserve to be there.

I'd actually put anyone to the finals instead of that scout leader from a couple seasons ago. The one that came back as an outcast after getting booted out.

I'm still scared from watching her get drunk on the boat and then trying to lean against the pole in a sexy way and said "I'm the scout master". I wanted to gouge my eyes out.

I didn't skim back too far, but is it just me, or are the characters bloody lame? I really think the casting agent from all stars was sick one day or something, and a replacment did the job for Vanuatu. I love Survivor, but have only watched 4 episodes because of my disinterest in the characters.

I hope they have a giant roundup of the best losers on Survivor and do that. Not sure how many more seasons of survivor and Jeff explaining lame games I can go through.

Yeah, the men are pretty stupid. Rory was actually pretty smart, and he tried to warn the men into voting out Ami. While the men all tried to vote her off, they just didn't have the numbers. The look on the men's faces was just too freakin' funny when Rory got his his torch snuffed out. What did they expect? Sarge sure got lulled, didn't he? He was played like a fiddle. Instead of leading the tribe, he was just letting his ass hang out. Pretty sad.

The women are just going to vote out the men one by one, unless one man can win the individual immunity time and again to stay safe. The only person who was remotely smart enough to crack the women's alliance was Rory.

Chris voting for Sarge didn't make a difference like you said; there were already enough votes against him regardless. However, him voting for Sarge didn't do him any good either; it's not as if the girls will now welcome him into their team or something...they don't need his alliance. Why would they keep Chris and rock the boat?
And why Ami backed down to Leann's choice when she seemed not to agree is even harder to comprehend.

Oh well, it's all good, I'm happy, go Chris! He's got the best quotes!

I'm just glad Twila finally saw the light. That woman is so frustrating. She flip-flopps so often that the men were never secure from Ami's alliance. But Chis finally did some fast talking to save his own skin. Maybe his pleas smacked of deperation, but Twila woke up. Funny think is, Scout tried to push the alliance with Chris last week but Twila still stuck with Ami. Next week should be interesting to say the least.

Indeed, great episode. It's about time someone actually went through with a plan. In the previous episodes, the damn editting made it look like people were going to turn on their alliances but nope, wasn't even close. Glad that something actually happened this time around.

I think that if Chris can make it to the final 3, he'll win the million dollars. Usually when they get to top 3 they do the endurance/standing challenge, right? I'll assume that it would be Twila, Scout, and Chris. The only way Chris would lose that challenge is if he did something stupid like lift a foot off (assuming they actually use this challenge). Also, Chris would pretty much have the support of the jury. Sarge and Chad, imo, would definitely vote for Chris. I also think that Julie/Ami/Leann would as well because they were backstabbed by Scout and Twila. Of course this is all speculation :p

Chris did vote for Sarge, so I am not completely sure whether Sarge would support Chris if it came down to the Final 2. Yeah the looks on the men's faces when LeeAnn was voted out were hilarious. I wonder if anyone caught the knowing wink Chris gave Twila and Scout when LeeAnn's torch was snuffed out? Ami will have to win immunity every time if she wants to make it to the final 2, and force Chris's alliance to vote each other out.

Good to see Eliza had the presence of mind to know that keeping Ami around does nobody any good in terms of advancing. Smart move by her.

Chris certainly looks like the favourite right now but since anything can happen it's hard to tell. I would like to see him take Eliza and Julie though. Get back at Twila/Scout who certainly don't deserve it and they did screw over the guys. But it won't happen unless he can count on Julie/Eliza 100% but that's not really possible...

Rometiklan
Dec 3rd, 2004, 02:25 AM
I almost didn't think it was possible. Ami's arrogance and over-confidence was her own undoing. Good riddance.

If Chris can make it to the Final 2, he's pretty much wrapped up the million. The majority of the jury would consist of the men, most of whom would vote for Chris, and members from his current alliance, most of whom would also vote for Chris. If one of the women win immunity next week, it might be prudent to vote off Chris since he is the strongest tribe member, and most likely to win the million, but they'll probably take out Julie to keep the final 4 intact.

My prediction is that Twila will win the final challenge and get to pick who she wants with her in the final 2. The way she hung on to that wooden pole shows that she has the most endurance, and the final challenges have been mostly endurance ones. But before the final 2 can state their case at the last tribal council, a volcano will erupt, killing many of the show's crew and most of the jury. Jeff will survive by using Eliza's breasts as a floatation device.

Mark my words! It will happen as told!

That would probably be one of the worst things he could do. He might not be able to beat Eliza or Julie.

Julie is one of those players that would probably win hands down. She hasn't stabbed anyone in the back.

Chris is trying to make sure that he brings one of the two most despised players to the final 2(scout or Twila).

Although I really wanted to see Twila get voted out, so much in fact that I was screaming at my TV. I can definately see why Chris would decide to vote for Julie instead. At this stage of the game its every man/woman/lesbian for him/her self. I can't believe Scout has made it this far though. I understand she is like 60 or whatever but she is absolutely brutal at all the challenges. I'll be very dissapointed if she wins or even gets into the final two. I'm pretty sure that Chris is almost a lock if he gets into the final 2. His best odds are if Twila is there with him, but I think all the other Survivors are aware that Scout definately doesn't deserve it. If it comes down to him and Eliza that will drop his odds a bit. I still think even though Julie was dissapointed tonight, she would still vote for Chris before Scout or Twila though. They've discussed that option.. (cold). But the producers dont think it would be very "active"... lets see, 19 people out in the cold in igloo's etc.. huddling together to keep warm...

I doubt the lack of activaty would be the deal breaker.

It'd probably be the lack of bare skin. Survivor draws alot on sex appeal. ;)

Ming, I don't see how Eliza or Julie is more deserving than Twila or Scout? Eliza didn't do any labour at camp, she was lazy. Nor did Julie do alot work either. Now, if we look at Scout, yes she didn't even do anything during the challenges but look how she made it this far for her age. That's a challenge!!!
I think you guys are judging by looks. The hottest girl should win.

did i say eliza or julie was more deserving to win? if so, i apologize. i did not mean it.

what i really wanted to say, was that i'd rather see those 2 for the duration of the show, than a 60 year old woman, and twila.

But you knew that was going to happen. It always happens in Survivor.

There is always someone who drifts along to the end who shouldn't be there. But it's because they're pawns. When it gets near to the end people start thinking about winning, and who they can win against.

So 1) people bring people like Twilia to the end knowing that they're hated and won't get the votes to win and 2) people vote out the strong knowing that they are a risk to win, and thus letting the weak slip through under the radar.

I can't really think of any of those types of people who have actually won though. They always tend to get taken out right near the end. Actually the only one I can think of right now is the girl that won the season Rupert was first on. Can't remember her name though.

man that was a boring season of survivor. they need to shake things up and bring some new twists.

having said that ami, leanne, eliza, and julie are hot :) can't wait to see which is going to appear in that rumored pb issue in feb.

I thought Julie looked really good at the reunion show. Eliza looked less anorexic but her bug eyes still bother me. Ami's already been in pb so we've seen her goods already  Overall I pick Julie as the hot chic in this round of survivor. I didn't like her much at the beginning but her looks kinda grow on you after awhile.

Yeah, that's the ugly looking opinionated lady that speaks spanish right? I didn't watch the season but I saw the first episode where she was the hero the first day since she was able to speak the language of the locals in being able to bargain for items for her tribe.

Yeah, Julie's cheeks weren't as big at the reunion. I think Chris gained weight. And Twila's hair really doesn't match her style :D

Ami looks a heck of a lot better with the makeup and hair done. She looked pretty horrible during the game (or maybe it was just her attitude that made her look bad?).

I actually found the final 2 hours, and even the reunion show to a lesser extent to be interesting and quite entertaining. I think the person who deserved to win won for sure. Chris played almost all the women especially Julie and Eliza, and even at the final tribal council you could see they were all still hurt by what he did, but even more important to him, they were willing to forgive. He said what needed to be said to secure the votes although he could have been a bit more eloquent. Twila on the other hand might have been able to win if she could have put on more of a show at tribal council, but she went with the attitude/demeanor that got her to the dance. Its pretty obvious in the end that the girls cared much more for Chris than he did for them. Even at the reunion he was cool as a cucumber. In fact the only person he got truly emotional about was Sarge when he made his speech. The one thing I wonder about is if Twila would have taken Scout to the final had she won the final immunity? If I was her I would in a heartbeart over Chris. Overall a decent season in my opinion. Hopefully they make some big changes for next season to keep people interested.

I thought the final episode was done pretty well. They did a better job of avoiding lots of filler and commercials.

I can remember a few final episodes from seasons past when I was pracictly screaming at the TV to just tell me who won and get it over with.

I think the Twila swearing thing was too overblown. I mean come on, it is a game and you gotta lie, cheat and screw to get to the end. That is how it works.

To those guys in council who wanted apologies (Eliza) and others, GET OVER IT!.

It's no question Twila would have taken Scout over Chris as the final two. What I wonder is what would have happened if they could have gotten Chris out earlier, saying getting rid him instead of Julie. Risky move at the time, but I wonder would Twila have gotten the most jury votes?

BTW, anyone notice that the only two who voted for Twila were both lesbians? :D And that the two remaining, Twila and Chris, are both highway construction workers? I found that to be sort of a coincidence.

And why is it that Ami says she wanted an all female alliance since it's never been done before. But then in the interview after she was voted off, she said she's never seen an episode of Survivor before?

Glad to see Chris win. Better than Scout/Twila. Julie rules.

I think they realize the same formula is a bit stale which is why they're gonna have that big "change" in the first 10 minutes or whatever. Plus, they're going to have 20 people now as opposed to 18 (and didn't it used to be 16...?)

You mean Sandra from Pearl Islands (spanish lady)
Actually, I can think of a couple others who went under the radar to win, there was Tina from Outback (she beat favourite Colby) and especially Vecepia (black office asst. who won on Marquesas vs Neleh), all were pretty big shocks to me.

As for this year's season, I'm still shocked Chris managed to survive this long and ultimately win, heck of a job, who would have thunk it, 1 man vs. 6 women (2 outed lesbians included) shows he was a terrific player, and I really underestimated him, (thought he was done for first show). He really rivals, Richard Hatch and Brian from Thailand as best players ever.

That being said...

The win by Tina was very surprising...
Colby had honoured his alliance (brought Tina instead of Keith.. he had sure win if he brought Keith) and was absolutely dominant in all of the challenges (I dont care what you say about Boston Rob... Colbster is the man at challenges

I think Rob Cesternino was also a REALLY good player. But he lost his wheels near the end and started to piss off Jenna...

Well granted yes, his tribemates were exceptionally stupid, but Brian was a mastermind, manipulating the others like his little puppets. Plus, he never got voted for once all season (except in the final obviously), he's what Ami tried to be this year and couldn't be. He lied, made friends, controlled every booting and did it all with breeze, and a straight face. To steal Helen's quote, "he really was the epitome of a used car salesman" and played the saps, fed them lines, and then sold them up the river.

An exceptional player in a poor season, would have liked to see what he could have done with harder competition although.

He would have been crushed on all stars.

He wouldn't be the only person who when put on all stars and had to go up against better players end up failing. Just look at Rob C, and Rupert. Without people weaker then them they couldn't get anywhere.

"He would have been crushed on all stars" by whom? What the fab final three of Amber, Rob, and Jenna? That's pretty ridiculous.
Track Records
Amber who was 6th in Outback
Jenna who was 8th in Borneo
Rob who was 9th in Marquesas

The fact that these three ended up at the end of All Stars, wasn't due to their superiority, but more their acknowledging their inferiority and voting off all past winners ASAP. I don't blame them I would have too in their position. The name of the game, is you appear a threat, you have success, you get voted off.
Nonetheless, none of them were great at all, and sure Rob did very well at the challenges at all stars, but so did Brian in Thailand, he was a college quarterback, just as althetic if not more.

The examples you mention (Rupert and Rob C.), you mention, didn't win, but they were seen as threats from the get-go. Rupert because of his popularity from Pearl Islands the year before, and Rob C. because he was noted to be a great player, with Mark Burnett and Jeff Probst themselves, proclaming him to be the "greatest survivor player ever not to win" before the show began. With a moniker like that, people aren't stupid, he was a threat right away.

On a related note, Brian didn't participate in All Stars because he refused to participate again, because he expected to be paid to play.

Should have worded it differently. ;)

He simply wouldn't have been able to manipulate people in the same way. And likewise for the reasons you mentioned he'd get taken out as a threat.

True Rob C lost because he couldn't fly under the radar anymore.

But Rupert I think showed himself to be a player who just bullied his way though his first season. He showed it in all stars that he wasn't that good of a survivor. The making them dig their shelter into the ground comes to mind.

I liked Rupert, but I suspect they edited the footage to place him in the most favourable light. From what I saw of him, he was a bit of a bully who intimidated everyone into not voting for him. He had some strong redeeming assests (hard worker, strong in challenges, caught the fish), so most people wouldn't vote for him anyways. But if one of them ever did, I bet he went ballistic on them. And there is no doubt in my mind that the fan voting at the end of All-Stars was to reward Rupert. A lot of people wanted Rupert to win the million, but when that wasn't possible, they contrived the fan voting to ensure he got his million.

He did overcome alot at the end of the game, but he certainly isn't in Hatch/Brian's league. The fact that he got rid of john k instead of one of the girls, and voluntarily went into the merge a minority was a BIGGGG mistake. I can't see Hatch or Brian ever allowing that to happen.

Like Johnny Fairplay. He voted for him and Rupert went crazy screaming who voted for me?!?

I mean suck it up, it's a game, people are supposed to vote for you. when you're a physical threat your going to get votes.

But what really bugged me about that is that he's a hypocrite. He spent so long whining about being the fat kid growing up, and getting picked on. Then he turns around and bullies people himself.

Source: People Magazine 12.15.05 (http://survivorfever.net/jeffprobst_julie_berry_people_magazine.html)
Jeff Probst has had many adventures as host of Survivor, such as hacking out of the Vanuatu brush, skydiving over the California desert and zooming into this season's finale on a big hog (motorcycle, that is). So who knew the biggest adventure for Probst would be embracing a new love?

Probst, 43, and Survivor: Vanuatu's fifth finalist, Julie Berry, who turned 24 Wednesday, are a couple.

"Nobody is more surprised than me that I could find my love affair on a show that I host," Probst tells PEOPLE, "but the truth is when something like this gets dropped in your lap, you don't look at how it's wrapped, you don't look at how it's being delivered. You just put your arms around it and you hold on because this is my love affair and there's no question in my mind about it."

Rumors of a relationship started among viewers who noticed Berry sporting a dabbed-on heart tattoo with "Jeff" scrawled on it during one episode. "That was just harmless fun," Berry told the Portland Press Herald.

Probst concurs. "The funny thing was there was this perception we were flirting on the show," he says, "and that was actually just fun stuff on the show. I didn't really talk to Julie until long after the show was over."

After production on Vanuatu wrapped over the summer, Probst says he e-mailed Berry just to say hello. "Once we started spending some time together, I didn't have any doubt. I didn't have any doubt and all the questions about how you meet and any potential obstacles, they fade away like an old dry leaf."

Happily, Probst adds, "I'm in love. I'm with her. I'm with her family, and there ain't no turning back. When you find it, you know and now I get it. The funniest thing is people used to always say, 'you'll know,' and I'd think, 'Oh, shut it! Let me tell ya, I've been around long enough, I don't know.' And then suddenly one day, I knew. Now I am one of those irritating people that is now saying, 'you'll know.'"

Berry, a youth mentor from Gorham, Maine, is moving to California to pursue her master's degree in family counseling. Probst is in Los Angeles, having returned from shooting the 10th season of the series, Survivor: Palau.

Probst was married to psychotherapist Shelley Wright from 1996 until 2001
