Self explanitory. Un-moderated so it won't be any more work for the mods. They're busy enough as it is. Put up a disclaimer before you enter the forum. Anything goes as in swearing, cussing, racial slurs etc. No kiddie porn is the one rule.

Long shot but worth a try.

Why are you suggesting this again?

Isn't there other forums for that? I personally wouldn't want to waste Derek's bandwidth for trivia bickering. Just my 2 cents.

yeah i remember that post but that was a flaming forum. This is anything goes.

dealforme i know there are other forums for that but I prefer this forum over any other one. People here seem a lot more intelligent than the other ones where it's purely kids horsing around.

Maybe for one day. Before certain trolls are off vacations.

Isn't that the same thing though?

It'd still be an un-moderated mess, and would cause more problems then it would fix.

Just imagine how many people would go in there to make racist, sexist comments, attack users, thread crap, etc etc.

If you want an un-moderated forum go to IRC.

It wouldn't be such a good idea, It may yet become like Computers-Canada, This is one of the reasons i dont deal there, lots of flaming, lowballing.. etc.. not very nice.. Id prefer it to be left the way it is.. otherwise selling or buying may become more difficult..

well my opinion..

I dont think Redflagdeals is the kind of place that needs an "anything goes', not many deals warrant trolls and threads to flame.

If anything, I wish the moderators to a stricter approach such as when they banned VD and suspended cummer.

Absolutely not! What happens when you do a search? You get tonnes of irrelevant and ill-mannered posts littering your search results. >:(

I still think we should at least try this. Have a forum where it's UNMODERATED. The only rule is no racist or sexist remarks. Anything else is fair game.

But to keep sexist or racist comments out it would have to be moderated.

Didn't quite make it to the poll last time (I consider Aug the last time), and the time before, won't fly this time either I don't think. If people want to flame and bicker at stuff/people, they probably can go else where. There's no need to open another can of worm. The site is busy as it is

Why do we need a forum like this? It's just going to attract more trolling and bickering. If it's unmoderated, it's going to spread to the other forums, with people not knowing where to posts such threads and such.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

As soon as you state "Everything is allowed except...", it no longer is "Anything goes".

I very much doubt we will ever have a forum like this. I'm sure there are plenty of places on the Internet that you can chat unmoderated for those that wish to do so.

Agreed. Honestly, if an "Anything Goes" forums launches on RFD, I'll seriously think about quitting entirely.

There are enough boards with that type of thing; RFD is the one forum I've come across with both a lack of trolls and "kiddies".

i've actually experienced this idea coming into a forum and it was pretty succesful.. you guys really have no faith in ppl , you assume that just cause they are given the permission to do nasty things , like swereing and what not , that they'll do it. anything goes-->definetly not , but unmoderated is a good idea. ppl won't just say f$#& you w/ no class, they'll use their writing abilites to intellegently make their point by flaming a person if they do some of the unappripriote behaviour you guys are talking about ... you guys brought pretty good pointes to the table though, i'm 60% for it, but those are some points that i had in mind.

Also,i doubt ppl would leave... they would simply not go to that forum

edit: didn't see trial, that's a better idea..

This idea was tried at another forum I frequent. What ended up happening is that a lot of people were attacked personally (hey, because anything goes), those people left, and the site is now a shadow of it's former self because all the people who made it great are now gone. I had over 6000 posts there in 3 years and in the last year after this stupid incident happened I've posted less than 50 times because all the friends I had there packed up and left.

Community is the most important thing and that's what makes any Forum what it is. Otherwise, it's just some useless software sitting on a server somewhere. We should be valuing other members, not encouraging flaming and fighting! And allowing such a thing to happen would just destroy everything that Derek and Ryan have worked so hard over the last few years to build.

If you think this idea will fly, start your own site and see how long it lasts. A very bad idea, period.

Flaming is rarely done with intellegent writing abilites. ;)
