I've read that there was a challenge at the London Zoo, where contestants dressed in gorilla suits scared the be-jesus out of children!
Last week, there was a celebrity edition of the Apprentice for Comic Relief. It was hilariously good.. and the teams raised over 2M pounds combined. As an aside, last yr's winner Michelle quit her job soon after winning it. She got knocked up by co-contestant Sayeed and had a miscarriage. Last edited by Madchester; Mar 23rd, 2007 at 02:14 PM.. |

There's actually two editions going on right now. The regular The Apprentice UK (season 3), and the "Comic Relief does the Apprentice" UK. The comic relief version hosts 10 celebrities.

Part 1 is the actual task, Part 2 is the boardroom for the firing.
I'm surprised that people aren't familiar with at least some of the celebs. Trinny (of Trinny and Susannah) were the original hosts of the original BBC version of What Not to Wear. She still gives occasional style tips on Oprah. Alistair Campbell was the former spin-doctor of Blair's government (see the film The Queen for a take on his role). He was also the one to coin the term "people's princess" in the wake of Diana's death. As for last night's show... it was simply spot on good. I loved Sir Alan's line "So here's the hat trick... you're fired!" when he got rid of that poor sap. |

...Allan sugar was smart...after 3 weeks get the weak performers to be PMs...and in essense make the final few weeks full of strong candidates...unlike Trump.
Im impressed with the number of solid candidates this season.

Trump's just a hypocrite. I remember in S2 when he fired Andy for being too young yet he keeps Lee in the Final of S5, despite being around the same age. I haven't watched his series since then.
I like the fact that Sir Alan actually takes the show seriously. He was only willing to do a third season if the producers gave the show a greater business emphasis. (Notice how this series rarely shows the winners enjoying their prize?) I also like the fact that the editing gives more ambiguity and balance to the teams' performance. Trumps' show gives an overly positive edit to the winning team and vice versa to the loser... you know the end result half an hour into the program. There's no suspense to that. On Sir Alan's show, even the winning team's PM was chastised for not using the allotted resources properly... and I liked that! |

I love these art related tasks. I like how the teams have to convince the artists to choose them, then convince buyers to drop 1000+ quid on a piece of art. There's actually a lot of skill and dexterity needed to make the proper sale. And you have to balance between the hard and soft sell, cuz art is such a fickle good... it's not something completely tangible like a car or food item.
Reminds me of the 1st season task with the pop artists. THAT was a great challenge, cuz the teams actually had to sell themselves to the artist, just to acquire his services. Next week looks like a riot. Brits selling crummy British cheese in France. Linguistic and cultural hijinks abound!
