I need a techie person to look over a computer I sent over to a friend who lives there.
The computer is brand new with these specs: Athlon 64 3200+ 1GB DDR PC3200 (running at 166 currently due to the BIOS not liking the dual-channel too much, firmware upgrade should happen soon) Soltek S939 Mobo Seagate 160GB HD nVidia GPU (not on board) WinXP SP2 Purolator shook it up pretty good so the drives got unhinged (no they did not bang into anything else) and they were mostly in place. The case is very similar to this one: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...e=COOLERMASTER and is completely screwless (just the plastic guides keep the drives in place). PM me if you can look at it. The job shouldn't take long as you just need to put the drives back in place and hook up the IDE and power cables. The plastic tabs are unbroken, they just seem stuck. They're somewhat n00bs when it comes to computer hardware. I'm not sure if this belongs here but I might as well post (mods please move if not proper). hope someone else can help you out, though, i know five days is a long time to not have a new toy to play with. |

Sorry all. I'm still trying to find out exactly where in Scarborough they are (they being in Holiday mode don't seem to be around at the moment). I'll update here later.
Thanks. |

Of course
. Gas + time (providing your hourly rate isn't too high). Everything worked before I shipped it and from my conversation with them (5 days ago), the stuff just got dislodged. Hopefully it won't take too long .

Thanks for all the kind offers. I didn't realize how many helpful folks there are in RFD who don't charge $50 an hour
. Unfortunately, they didn't wait for me and took it to Futureshop. All they did was plug in the cables and re-align the drives Ah well, thanks again for everyone's offer of help. |

Haha. .. yeah, can you imagine how much FS makes per hour? I mean, the poor lowly techs are paid $12/hr (approx) so assuming it takes 1 hour to troubleshoot and do all the testing (yes, I know it doesn't take that long but say on average), that's $38/hour the store makes per customer! Wow .... I really should open my own computer shop one day
