I'm really interested in getting a job with the United Nations, but the entry level jobs seem hard to even get.
They have an examination process for entry level positions based on country quotas, but Canada hasn't been on the list for the past three years. Anyone have any recommendations?? |

I guess you can check with Foreign Affairs and see if they have anything to say
A lot of times though to get into those non-profit organizations, we would have to start from the ground up as unpaid interns and work ourselves up. Good luck!

Take some university courses in Marxist studies, that should help.

to get your foot in the door it would have to be volunteer/unpaid interning for the first little bit.
My ex-gf worked at the UN during the summer many years ago, all volunteer and unpaid for. But looked good on the resume ! |

you basically have to have connection thru unpaid volunteer work, or know someone that actually working for the UN right now.. The former chances are lower compared to the latter.
Good luck

Here is a question you might get on a UN exam:
3 guys rent a hotel room for $30. Being fair, they split the bill at $10 a piece and each hand their $10 to the attendant. After the attendant shows them to their room, he finds out from the manager that the room is only $25. He then takes five $1 back to the guys. Knowing that they won't know the difference, the attendant pockets $2 and gives each the guys back $1 each. How much did they pay for the room? If they originally paid $30 and the attendant pocketed $2, then they paid $28....right? Then if each of the guys paid only $9 (because they each got $1 back) and 9 times 3 is 27, then they paid only $27.... right? |
