Default Any other ADHD parents?

Any other parents with kids with ADHD?
My 6 year old daughter was diagnosed and we are looking for "scheduling" ideas and tips.
She is currently taking concerta and I have a few questions
Can she build up a tolerance to it?
Diet changes?
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated

We have 2 kids that are ADHD. Both our oldest (boy almost 18) and our youngest (girl almost 12) which makes life really interesting at times, LOL! Both of ours are on Concerta and have been since the moment it was available in Canada. We absolutely have not found that they build a tolerance to it. We don't medicate on weekends generally. We tried all the "diets" and supplements out there and didn't find any of them effective FWIW.

Not gaining weight can be an issue but it's easily worked around. Our ped. was getting quite concerned with our youngest as she hadn't gained any weight in 14 months and had virtually stopped growing. I wasn't as concerned as both her brothers were the same way at her age, it seems to be genetics for our kids. All of our kids are slim. Our ped. suggested giving her a Carnation Instant Breakfast along with her normal breakfast for an additional 300 calories. Her last checkup she had grown 2 inches and gained 7 lbs in 4 months and is starting puberty...

Thanks for the info. We are a bit concerned as to whether her meds are working as well as they should. She is on the 18mg extended release, and has been since Jan 3 of this year. Right away we and her teacher noticed a HUGE difference. However, in the past 2 weeks both her teacher and her OT (who comes to her twice a month) have sent home notes stating that they have noticed increased levels of loss of attention. We too have noticed at home.
I guess she needs a appt with her ped. to determine if dosage is correct. Just wanted to see others opinions.

You must have a very interesting life with 3 ADHD'ers in hte house. I know with just one (age 6) is CRAZY!!!!!!!!

Is she is in growth spurt Ayla500? If she's grown and gained weight she could very well need the next size dose which is 36mg. Dosing is always a hit and miss game anyway from time to time. Our oldest in the last 18 months has gone from (1x56mg and 1x18mg) to (1x56mg and 1x36mg) and is now on (2x56mg) as he has a tough academic year this year. Our daughter had been on 36mg from the time she started Concerta until school started this year when we all decided she needed a higer dose and started her on 56mg...

My baby does not have adhd, but he developed rash when we gave him Dempster bread, he is okay with fresh bakery bread. He got a bit excited and yelling after we gave him milk. We searched and found this site.

Some of the problems of ADHD may be food additives and colours. Hope this help.
