Considering many people here took advantage of the STAPLES deal for this laptop; this thread is specifically to deal with problems and suggestions from the forum users/members;
Got some very good advice on the expired deals original thread; and wanted to reiterate for all; please share your suggestions and tips n tricks; thks!! http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/ca...xedCode=WW&=&= I did a clean Install of W7 & drivers were updated automatically; PROGRAMMES INSTALLED AVG 8.5 Free http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Vi...-10320142.html Skype http://skype.com/ iTunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ MSN Messenger http://download.live.com/messenger Google Earth http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html Flycast http://www.flycast.fm/air/badge/index.html Problems & Solutions; I didn't deinstall my computer from the iphone and now need to figure out how to reinstall my music from he iphone back onto this laptop; LOOKING FOR ANSWER Wasn't sure if i should do an "upgrade" or "install" for W7; figured out after its a fresh install hence do not choose update unless u want to keep all your files and settings etc. COPY PASTE OF ORIGINAL THREAD COMMENT ON 1810TZ <<With the original config the machine would sometimes lock up for a few seconds. There were also issues with the power settings, which would be overwritten automatically, causing backlight settings to reset and the CPU fan to always be active under AC power. It took me a while to figure out what was causing this. The VID settings in the BIOS were also absurd. They were set to 0.90V @1.2GHz (fine) and 1.10V @1.3GHz (too high). In the end installed Windows 7 (which updated all drivers through Windows Update), removed useless bloatware that I wouldn't use (McAfee trial, Office trial, eSobi etc.). I found that the Acer ePower utility was causing the power settings to be overwritten, so I removed that. Mine had BIOS 1.04, whereas latest version is 1.26. So I updated the BIOS too, but that didn't change the VID settings. I installed CPU Genie, which allows me to run the CPU at 0.90V all the time (lowest setting), whether it is operating at 1.2 or 1.3GHz, thus less heat and fan noise + longer battery under load. Machine now runs beautifully and is very responsive. Lastly, I wasn't saying it is as fast as a Quad for computation, obviously. But general responsiveness for basic tasks under Windows 7 is subjectively pretty similar.>> ericlitvak Last edited by a in yul; Sep 11th, 2009 at 08:18 PM.. |

Do you mean the Aspire 1410? Nobody outside of China can get their hands on a 1810TZ yet.
