    By many accounts, Modern Warfare 2 is biggest video game launch ever. Sales in the first 5 days of release amounted to $550 million dollars. “Popular” would be an understatement. You’re looking at the new high water mark for cinematic FPS games.

  • Left4Dead 2

    Left4Dead 2

    Left4Dead 2 is currently the pinnacle of zombie-related gaming. It’s hugely popular and multiplayer is loads of fun. If that doesn’t convince you, the prospect of hitting zombies with frying pans and electric guitars, among other things, should.

  • Halo 3 ODST

    Halo 3 ODST

    Fans of the Halo series will get a nice mix of old and new in ODST. Gameplay will be familiar, but you will be playing a very different protagonist (not a super-powered one like Master Chief) and be involved in a different campaign. The new Firefight multiplayer mode is very addictive.

  • Assassin’s Creed 2

    The critics agree – Assassin’s Creed 2 is an improvement on the original in pretty much every way possible. Gamespot calls the game “bigger, better, and more beautiful”.

  • Dragon Age: Origins

  • Forza Motorsport 3

    Destructoid.com calls Forza 3 “the new king of racers”. You won’t find a better racing game for the Xbox 360. Playstation 3 owners are out of luck until Gran Turismo 5 is released… hopefully sometime this decade.

  • Batman: Arkham Asylum

    Arkham Asylum is, according to reviewers, the best Batman and best comic book video game to date. The script is penned by award winning Batman writer Paul Dini and the meticulously crafted gameplay is fresh and fun. The whole economic downturn thing has put a kink in many a plan to become a brooding billionaire playboy/crimefighter, so this is probably as close to being Batman as you are going to get.

  • The Beatles Rock Band

    It’s Rock Band, with the Beatles – not too hard to figure out. Sometimes, mixing 2 great things together doesn’t work (say, ice cream and gravy), but in this case, the marriage is awesome. Harmonix treats the Beatles legacy with respect and has crafted a game with great content and wonderful presentation.

  • Guitar Hero 5

    Guitar Hero 5

    5 is bigger than 4. It’s more polished than its predecessors with significant refinements like the ability to play with any combination of instruments -- no more fist fights over who gets to play the guitar. Multiplayer is easier than ever to get into, so those returning to the series won’t miss a beat and newcomers will have a smoother experience.
