Dell.ca: Vostro 220 Desktop PCs w/Intel C2D E7300, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD, Vista $399
Looking for a good bargain on a well rounded desktop PC? Dell.ca has some candidates in the form of Vostro 220 PCs equipped with Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz E7300 Processors, 2GB RAM, 250GB hard drives, and Vista Basic for $399. You can choose from a standard case design with the Vostro 220, or a silm case design with the Vostro 220s. With a slim case design, expansion cards (such as discrete video cards) will need to be of the low profile variety. The configurations are identical otherwise. Full specs can be seen below.
Vostro 220 with Core 2 Duo E7300 $399
Vostro 220s (slim) with Core 2 Duo E7300 $399
- Windows Vista Home Basic, Service Pack 1
- Intel Core 2 Duo Proc E7300 (2.66GHz, 3M, L2Cache, 1066FSB) (manually selected)
- 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz - 2DIMMs
- 1 Year Basic Limited Warranty and 1 Year NBD Onsite Service
- 250GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache™
- Integrated 5.1 Channel Audio
- Integrated Video, Intel® GMA X4500HD
- Single Drive: 16X (DVD+/-RW) Burner Drive Data Only
The E7300 isn't too far behind the venerable E8400 processor (2.66GHz vs 3GHz and 3MB cache instead of 6). It's a good mix between price and performance. Other upgrades to consider include the 256MB ATI Radeon HD 3450 (DVI+HDMI) for $70, Microsoft Works 9 for $0, or Microsoft Works Plus 2008 for $30. Shipping is free and it comes with the standard Vostro 30 day no hassle return policy (no return shipping, no restock fees). This is a pretty powerful computer at a very reasonable price.
If you're looking for a monitor to pair up with the system, Dell currently has the S2409W 24" Full HD Monitor (1920x1080, HDMI input) on sale for $319.99.

5 Blu-Rays for $5 @ Columbia House Canada…
If you've got a PS3 or another Blu-ray player Columbia House is offering 5 Blu-ray movies for only $5 plus $0.99 shipping per disc. It's not all exactly that simple though. As with the rest of the Columbia House programs you also have to promise to buy an additional 4 Blu-ray or DVD movies at regular club prices starting at $19.95 plus shipping and handling within the next year. You can save a bit more if you order 2 additional Blu-rays along with the 5 for $5 offer at $19.95 and $14.95 each with $0.99 shipping per disc so your commitment to buy in the next year is only additional 2 Blu-ray movies.
The good news is that if you add up all the math it works out to under $15 per Blu-ray depending on if you order the two additional movies now and depending on which titles you decide to buy in the next year. It's a good way to start up your collection and if you're thinking ahead some of these movies might even make great Christmas gifts.
