Good deals, but God help you if need to make changes

Comment:
I will never use Expedia again after having experienced multiple occasions of absolutely unacceptable hold times with their service department. Having to change a flight one March, I was on hold well over two hours, just to talk to the person who was able to transfer me to bookings or whatever they're called. Then it was another 3 hours on hold. When I finally got through, they were ever so apologetic, "but it's busy this time of year with the airlines making so many changes to their schedules" - which turned out to be a complete load of BS. Months later I had to cancel a reservation and it was even worse, it took three nights of being on hold until I couldn't stay awake any longer. Yes, it was literally that bad, and they tried to lay that same garbage story again about the airlines changing around. On both occasions I sent e-mails to their complaints department, to no surprise I got no response.

Expedia is great in my book.

Comment:
I have used Expedia a total of 14 times and I have never had a problem with them. I have called hotels and couldnt get as good a deal as through Expedia. I would read all the fine print about flights though, as they are not responsible if it changes. So make sure you call 12 hours before take off to confirm your flight number with the actual airline. Have a print out of your Expedia itinerary with you when you go to the hotel/airport. I have used Customer service twice and both times it was quick and helpful.

I was on hold with customer service for 22 hours, finally the couldn't do anything

After waiting for 22 hours in total (from Friday 19 Dec2008 to 22 Dec 2008), at 9am ( Eastern time) someone from expedia.ca customer service decided to pick up the phone. I was calling expedia.ca customer service to respond for their e-mail about my “CACELLED FLIGHT” on 26 Dec 2009. The following is a copy of the e-mail that I requested from them to put in writing about their answer: ------------------------------------------------------------------ Thank you for contacting Expedia.ca regarding flights travelling Toronto to Riyadh. As this trip is in progress, Expedia.ca no longer owns the ticket. Please contact Air Canada at 1-888-247-2262, and give them the confirmation code NYQLEZ. With this, Air Canada will be able to pull up your reservation and assist you. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions. Our Customer Support Representatives are available to assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Thank you for choosing Expedia.ca! Customer Support Team 1-888-EXPEDIA (1-888-397-3342) Expedia.ca ------------------------------------------------------------------ Just for the record, the information above was wrong. Air Canada office in Riyadh-Saudi Arabia had no idea about the flight cancellation and they wanted to give me a $200 fine I opt to ‘change’ this cancelled flight. I finally managed to find my correct confirmation code via a travel agency in Riyadh after I paid them $115. The corrected my ticket and put me in the next flight to Toronto and they added one more connection. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE BAD RELATION WITH OTHER AIRLINES IF YOU ARE FLYING LOCALLY THEY MIGHT BE ALRIGHT, NEVER USE EXPEDIA IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN 1 AIRLINE IN YOUR TRIP I WILL NEVER USE EXPEDIA AGAIN

Changed my flight and Expedia emailed notification 1 hour after my departure

Comment:
I went to check in 2 hours before my flight. My flight was changed to takeoff 2 hours earlier so I therefore missed my flight. When I got home I found that Expedia had emailed me 1 hour after my takeoff time with this change. When I called in I was told that they could do nothing about it as they email me as soon as the airline tells them and that is not their problem. I questioned them further and they told me if I booked direct with the airline then I would have been contacted directly by the airline a lot sooner. Expedia refused to do anything to make up for this in convenience. I will book directly with an airline next from now on and recommend anyone else to as well.
