Dell: Logitech Alto Cordless Laptop Stand + Wireless Keyboard still $39.99

November 20 Update: The Logitech sale has ended, but the Alto Cordless Laptop Stand and Wireless Keyboard is still selling for $39.99. There's no word how long it'll last though.

The Alto stand props up your laptop for more comfortable viewing and of course, provides you with a full size keyboard for more convenient typing. It also has a USB hub built in. Conveniently, the Alto Stand and Keyboard folds up neatly (much like a laptop would) when you're done with it or need to take it with you. A hands-on review at tech.yahoo.com has this to say: "it's making a huge difference on my ergonomics when I use my laptop at my desk... It's quite surprising, and I will definitely be using the Alto on a daily basis."

At its usual price of $60-$100+, The Logitech Alto Cordless Stand and Wireless Keyboard might be a little too pricey for some, but at $39.99, it sounds like very reasonable way to boost comfort and productivity when using a laptop.

Archos 5 120GB WiFi Touchscreen Internet Media Tablet and MP3/MP4 Player $220 Shipped

November 15 Update: The 250GB version is now sold out! There is a 120GB version for $219.99 that's still available. Thanks to DigitalGamer and apf888 for the clarifications in the comments. Also note that because this has a larger hard drive, it actually makes the unit a bit thicker and heavier than the 60GB version in the review.
Originall posted November 14: For those looking for a more flexible, larger storage, larger screen, higher resolution alternative to the iPod Touch, the 250GB Archos 5 Internet Media Tablet for $229.99 with free shipping at Newegg.ca is just begging for your attention. It's powered by a ARM Cortex-A8 600MHz processor, powering a 4.8" 800x480 resolution touchscreen with wireless connectivity, USB 2.0 port, microphone, headphone jack, and built-in speakers. What's more impressive is the variety of things it can do. It's an MP3 player, photo viewer, video player, voice recorder, grabs e-mail, surfs the web - all out of the box. You can also add hardware modules to the base system that adds PVR, GPS, and 3G connectivity options.

TrustedReviews.com has a good review of the unit that highlights its flexibility but also the shortcomings with an overall score of 8/10. It's a review of the 60GB model though, and at the original launch price of well over $500 (price history) for the 250GB version.

Apple: New iMacs (inc. 27” model with IPS 2560x1440 display for $1799), New Mac mini & More

Yesterday (October 20), Apple took the wraps off new revisions of the iMac, Mac mini, and the MacBook (non-pro).

We'd say the biggest changes come to the iMacs, which now pack 16:9 widescreen LED-backlit IPS panels. In that department, we think the $1799 27" iMac with a 3.06GHz Core 2 Duo Processor, 2560 x 1440 resolution, 4GB RAM, 1TB hard drive, and Radeon 4670 is is actually a pretty appealing deal. An LED-backlight 27" IPS display with staggering resolution would surely cost a pretty penny, so we consider that a big part of the price tag. The actual computer hardware isn't too shabby either.

Elsewhere, the Mac mini has gotten some hardware upgrades (faster Core 2 Duo processor, more RAM, and bigger hard drives). Apple has also introduced a Mac mini server, which omits the optical drive and instead, allows for a second hard drive. The news on the MacBook front is less exciting -- it gains unibody construction but uses white plastic instead of aluminum like the more expensive MacBook Pros.
