Questrade: Hold US Dollars in your RRSP & Use them to Buy US Stocks w/ No Conversion Fees
Beginning today, Questrade will permit its clients to hold US dollars in their registered retirement accounts. It will be possible to deposit U.S. dollars into your account, hold them in cash form and then use them to buy US stocks. If you want to sell a US stock, you indicate online that you want the transaction carried out in in American dollars. The only caveat is that you pay an extra $5 commission for U.S.-dollar trades in RRSP accounts. Fortunately, this fee is paid once on a day when you trade US stocks, not per transaction. You can read more about this offer in this Globe and Mail article.
If you're interested in taking advantage of this feature (that is unique to Questrade), you can learn more about Questrade's services here and sign up. Questrade has other stand-out features like $4.95 trades, no trade minimums, no inactivity fees, and 24-hour account management, so take a long, hard look. Don't forget to use coupon code redflagdeals during the sign up process which will grant you $50 in free trades!

Credit Education Week Canada: Free Advice & Tips on Money Management
This week is Credit Information Week - an initiative spearheaded by organizations like Credit Counseling Canada, Credit Canada and financial institutions. Taking place from November 13 - 16, 2007, a number of different organizations and companies will be speaking about money; from everything you need to know on student loans, to how couples should be approaching finances, to learning the ropes on credit. Free events (looks like they are all in Ontario) include presentations at the University of Toronto St. George Campus and at York University as well as a trade show at the 4 Seasons Hotel in Toronto. To see the full list of events and details, visit this page.
For those of you outside of Ontario or simply too busy saving money to attend any events, there is still plenty of useful information to be found. The website itself features advice, tips, and even calculators for topics ranging from shopping, mortgages, planning, to financing a car.
