Vancity Youth and 55+ Free Chequing Accounts
Vancity has two free chequing accounts available, one for youth under 25 and one for people over 55. In the free Youth chequing account you get unlimited in-branch, member service line, phone and online banking withdrawals, bill payments, and transfers. Debit at point of sale is also free as are withdrawals and transfers at Exchange ATMs. What's neat about this account is that it's not just for students, but anyone under the age of 25.
For the 55 plus crowd, their free Gold Club plan is even better. You get everything in the Youth account that makes it easy to do your day to day banking plus you earn tiered interest on your balance, free personalized Vancity cheques, free US dollar drafts, and free travellers cheques! It gets even better, if you require US dollars, you can get a free Gold Club US Chequing account as well. It doesn't have as many features but hey, it's also free and should be sufficient for occasional use.
Vancity is based in BC, is Canada's largest credit union, and has been around since 1946.
