Hot! Garmin Nuvi 760 GPS $389.99 including Shipping @ Costco.ca
Here's a hot deal on a high end GPS unit: the Garmin Nuvi 760 GPS for $389.99 from Costco.ca (there is a 5% surchage if you aren't a Costco member). This price tag includes shipping fees, and it's a great price for this unit. As a quick comparison, this unit currently sells for $799.99 at BestBuy.ca and $489.99 at Radioworld.ca.
What are you getting for $389.99 you ask? The 700 series is the cream of the crop in the Nuvi line and it should surprise no one that the Nuvi 760 is feature packed. The Nuvi 760 has a super-bright 4.3" LCD touchscreen display, text-to-speech, Bluetooth, FM transmitter, traffic, track log recording, multi-destination routing, a one-touch "Where Am I?" feature, MP3 and audiobook playback, and much more. In it's October 2007 review of the unit, GPSmagazine.com gives the 760 a rating of 4.7/5, calls it the "best nuvi yet", "an outstanding navigator", and most emphatically, "the best GPS on the market today". All of this praise comes with recognition that the Nuvi 760 cost upwards of $800 at the time.
For $389.99 including shipping, we can't call this anything other than a hot deal!

Tuesday Roundup: PriceCanada.com “Price History” Feature, New “Ask An Expert” Q&A
It's time for our weekly look at what's new and helpful around RedFlagDeals.com. First up, there's a brand new installment of "Ask An Expert", where business coach Warren Coughlin offers small business advice. This time, Warren takes a look at what it might take to start a technology consulting business.
Second, with our sister site PriceCanada.com steadily adding more retailers and products to its database, we thought it was time to give more exposure to the "Price History" feature. This is exactly what it sounds like - for a given item, you can check its price history from all of the applicable vendors on PriceCanada.com. Find out if the latest price is a hot deal, or ice cold!
As an example, here's the price history for the Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200.11 500GB SATA2 32MB Cache Hard Drive. This feature can give you a good idea of average prices and help you make informed shopping decisions, so have a look! You can find the "Price history" button for a given product on the right side of the product image.

Tech Roundup: KDS 26” LCD $399, Intel Wolfdale E7200 2.53GHz CPU $145.60
Here is a trio of deals on computers and electronics items that caught our eye:
These are some good prices all around. Under $400 for a 26" LCD is pretty unheard of, and it has HDMI and HDCP capability as well. We're unable to confirm this detail, but some online research about this monitor indicates that it might very well include a VGA cable, DVI cable, and an HDMI to DVI cable. If this is the case, this is a heck of a buy! Not to be forgotten is the E7200. The E7200 is the "low end" of the new Wolfdale 45nm processors, but a 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo processor for under $150 is a good value. The E7200 also boasts low power consumption (LegitReviews.com has some testing that shows that under load, it consumes as much as a Q6600 processor does when idle). Impressive!
Lastly, the Garmin Nuvi 650 is GPS unit with robust features including a 4.3" colour widescreen touchscreen, Bluetooth, 2D or 3D map modes, voice prompts that can speak most street names, SD card expandability, MP3 playback, and more. It currently sells at other retailers for $275 or more.

New Dell Vostro 1310 13.3” Laptop: Celeron 1.86GHz M540, 1GB RAM, 160GB HD, XP/Vista $449! Hot!
May 9 Update: This offer is still available. $449 is a great price for sturdy 13.3" laptop. The processor could be faster, but for basic productivity needs like note taking, word processing, email, and surfing, this is a mighty good deal.
Dell has launched updated Vostro laptops, starting with a 13.3" model dubbed the Vostro 1310. The 1310 is, obviously, smaller than it's Vostro 1400 and 1500 brothers. The revamped Vostros, according to Dell, are "thinner, lighter, and more secure". The first deal out of the gate is a Celeron M M540 equipped Vostro 1310 Notebook for $449 with your choice of Windows XP Home or Vista Home Basic. Here are the specs:
- Intel Celeron M M540 (1.86GHz, 1M L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB)
- Windows XP Home Edition or Windows Vista Home Basic
- 13.3 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen XGA LCD Display w/TrueLife™
- 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, 2 DIMM
- 160G 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
- 8X DVD+/-RW with double-layer DVD+/-R write capability, Data Only
- IntelJ Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
- Dell Wireless 1395 802.11g Wi-Fi Mini Card
- High Definition Audio 2.0
- 1 Year Basic Limited Warranty plus 1 Year Mail-in Service
- 58 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
Link to the Windows XP Home Configuration
Link to the Windows Vista Home Basic Configuration
A noteworthy upgrade is the 9-cell battery for $20. Other upgrades of interest are the Nvidia 8400M GS for $99 and the Touchpad with UPEK Fingerprint Reader for $35. It is a bit disappointing that there are no selectable processor upgrades, but a 13.3" notebook with Vostro build quality for a tick under $450 is a great bargain regardless. Shipping is free.
