Until October 13, those of you shopping for high quality notebooks can take advantage of some nice savings on Lenovo Thinkpad X-series laptops. Lenovo.com Canada is holding a Thinkpad X-series Blowout Sale. Use coupon code CAPXBLOWOUT at the checkout for any of the featured X-series Thinkpads (namely, the X61s, X61 Tablet, and X300) to take advantage of the sale prices.
You can for instance, purchase an X61 Tablet for $1202 that comes equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo L7500 processor, Vista Home Premium, 1GB RAM, 80GB hard drive, and 4-cell battery. That's a pretty aggressive price for the X61 tablet, which only sees sizable discounts quite rarely. With this notebook, you're getting impressive performance in a very portable package. There is no internal optical drive (you can add the X6 Ultrabase for $200), but the X61 also weighs in at a scant 3.1lbs. You can check out a review of a similarly configured X61 here (it has a slower processor). If you're looking for a compact and travel friendly laptop with excellent build quality that doesn't sacrifice performance or functionality, this is a system to consider.
If you're looking for something else, there are other notebooks to consider, including the the Thinkpad T61p 15" laptop with a T9300 processor and Nvidia Quadro FX 570M discrete graphics for $1449 (the same system previously posted except it comes with a 9-cell battery now and costs an additional $50), and the ThinkPad X61 Tablet 12.1" Laptop with Intel Core 2 Duo processor L7700 (low voltage processor), 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, and Vista Business for $1669.

It is essentially an 8600GT card with DDR3 memory and should be good for work or play. Other highlights include the integrated fingerprint reader and integrated Bluetooth. Last but certainly not least, the fact that this is a ThinkPad shouldn't be downplayed. ThinkPad notebooks have enjoyed great popularity and loyalty for a long time, and are lauded for their build quality. If you're looking for a high quality, powerful notebook at a good price, this is a tempting option.
If you can get buy with less power, there are less expensive options such as a T8100 equipped ThinkPad R61e for $799 as well.
