Our Valentines Day from Hell started innocently enough.

My husband and I decided to celebrate our first Valentines Day as a married couple by inviting both sets of parents to our home for dinner. My parents are very traditional Chinese, and my husbands parents, very old fashioned Italians, were just visiting from their small village in Italy.

We had just adopted an adorable puppy from the local pound who was addicted to chew toys. Before our guests arrived, we hurriedly tidied up and threw the puppy's toys into the closest cupboard.

After dinner, my mother was helping me clear the table, when I heard a crash, as she suddenly dropped the large dish of food that she was carrying. My eyes followed her horrified stare to see my father-in-law playing Frisbee with our puppy in the living room. The Frisbee was my old DIAPHRAGM that the puppy had dug out of a cupboard while looking for his chew toys! My in-laws had no idea what the frisbee really was but my parents did.

That unforgettable and embarrassing scene has haunted us every Valentines Day since!

It’s been a busy couple of months and we’ve launched a number of new sections in forums.  In case you missed it, here’s a quick rundown of the new stuff:

• Early in September we launched the Financial Services Deals Section to go along with the already very popular Personal Finance Forum
• The Student Deals Section and the Student Discussion forum were made permanent (formerly they only existed during the Back to School period).
• We added Photography and Cell Phone sub-forums to the Computers & Electronics Forum.
• And just this week we launched a Green Deals and Discussion Forum to focus on environmentally friendly deals and products.  The Green Deals page even features a funky green look.

We have a few other things in the works, including site design tweaks and backend hardware upgrades, but much of our focus for the rest of the year will be on getting ready for the holiday shopping season and Boxing Day.  If you have any suggestions on new things we could do, send them to us using our Contact Form.

We recently ran into our friend Kieran at Democamp and he showed us the refurbished iPhone he bought from the US after reading about the it in the forums.  He also has the SpeakoutWireless plan he read about on RFD.

Thanks again to everyone who came to yesterday’s Bargain Hunter’s Picnic and a special thanks to all of the volunteers!  Everyone had a great time and we hope to do another big event next summer with more food, games, and prizes!
