My wife had a 2005 smart fortwo passion (top of the line) (diesel). It had everything except cruis control. It originally cost over $27,000.00 with taxes. We traded it in after 4 years and only got $8,000.00 for it. It was not cheap to service or repair. Starter motor $970.00. One wheel caliper $955.00. Regular service $150.00 - $250.00 every 6,000 km. Air conditioning leaked under warranty and they were never able to find the leak. It had to be topped up every spring! Only good thing going for it was the MPG. She now has a Kia Rondo (7 passenger) which is also cheaper to insure than the smart!
