I bought this last year, couldn’t be happier. It’s the full version, the license does not expire. Read the terms because if you can’t prove you’re a student after you buy, you could get dinged the full retail price.

Looks like they’re going to be offering a Vista Ultimate upgrade version in October too.

I thought 2007 was designed FOR Vista.

I’m using on my Vista Home Premium OS now.

How do you “prove” you are a student after you buy?
I know you have to prove student email/enrollment etc before purchase - but after, when it is being installed on a PC, how do they prove you are a student? Is there something special about the registration process?

No you install the software as you normally would after entering your e-mailed key. It’s only if their in doubt later that they’ll contact you and you’ll probably have to scan proof for them.

Please read the actually instructions on their site before asking these types of questions. wink

does anyone know if I install this now on a computer, then uninstall it in the future...can i use the same cd key to re-install it on another computer??

You have the choice of burning it on a CD/DVD when you download the file. It’s a retail copy, so you can install as many times as you want. =]

Just remember you can get the MS Office compatible OpenOffice for $free, and spend that $75 on something useful.

Wondering if anyone has done the Vista purchase?  Does it give a burnable .iso which can be installed to a blank hard drive or an .exe as in the case of Office?  What about the backup DVD option, is that a bootable installation CD?  Does XP need to be present on the system first?  I see the version is 64 bit, can 32 bit be installed?

I have done the Vista purchase. It offers you a download, but it is not a burnable .iso.  It is a file that you can run, but you can’t burn (as I understood).

I just downloaded an .iso from isohunt, and then used my upgrade key.  Another trick, if you want to do a clean format, is this:

To do a clean install of Vista w/upgrade
1. Burn a copy of Vista Full Version (NOT upgrade only)
2. Format the computer, then install Vista. WHEN IT SAYS ENTER CD KEY, LEAVE IT BLANK.

3. The system will install with no cd key.

4. Then, run the install again IN WINDOWS.  Choose upgrade, and upgrade your version of Vista with your new cd-key.

This allows you to do a clean format/install. It does take 2 installs, but at least it isn’t costing you $400+ dollars.

Sorry, to clarify my previous post:

This version of Vista is an UPGRADE.  You must have a prior version of Windows on it to upgrade it with.  THIS is why I posted a method to get around having XP.  Install Vista twice, but the first time do it with no cd-key.

I wasn’t sure about 32-bit, because I wanted 64-bit.

I could really use this for my High School aged kids - too bad :(
Guess I’ll have to wait.

@deveritt
I assume you can install it as many times as you want.  I have it installed on my desktop and laptop.  I have probably reinstalled it on my desktop around 5 times.

You can download Open Office from the internet.
It is free and compatible with MS Office documents.

My brother is using Open Office Writer as an alternative for MS Word and saving his documents in MS Office format as the school computers are not equipped with Open Office.

Please visit http://www.openoffice.org/ to get your free copy of Open Office.
Thank you.
