Lenovo Back To School Offers including 12.1” Thinkpad X61 w/T8100/2GB/120GB/Vista $1099 & More

Lenovo has refreshed their Back To School Offers and there are definitely some systems of interest, chief among them being the Thinkpad X61 12.1" Laptop with a Core 2 Duo T8100 processor for $1099 (in the middle of the page). Shipping is free. Here are the specifications on the X61:
- Intel Core 2 Duo processor T8100 (2.1GHz 800MHz 3MBL2)
- Genuine Windows Vista Business
- 12.1" XGA TFT Display (1024x768)
- Intel GMA X3100 GM965
- 2 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 (2 DIMM)
- 120GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm
- ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wi-Fi wireless LAN Mini-PCIe US/EU/LA/ANZ
- 4 cell Enhanced Battery (X60)
- 1 Year Depot/Express Warranty
Potential upgrades include the T8300 processor for $50, Bluetooth for $29, fingerprint reader for $30, and 8-cell battery for $50.

With this notebook, you're getting impressive performance in a very portable package. There is no internal optical drive (you can add the X6 Ultrabase for $200), but the X61 also weighs in at a scant 3.1lbs. If you're looking for a compact and travel friendly laptop with excellent build quality that doesn't sacrifice performance or functionality, this is a system to consider.

If you're looking for something else, there are other notebooks to consider, including the the Thinkpad T61p 15" laptop with a T9300 processor and Nvidia Quadro FX 570M discrete graphics for $1449 (the same system previously posted except it comes with a 9-cell battery now and costs an additional $50), and the ThinkPad X61 Tablet 12.1" Laptop with Intel Core 2 Duo processor L7700 (low voltage processor), 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, and Vista Business for $1669.
