I just went to the store and they informed me that they had ended this offer.

The manager was really polite, and showed me the line in the fine print that talks about the right to end the offer at any time.

Too bad - it was a great deal.  I guess a few too many people got to use it before I did!

The manager said that she got an email today (Nov 30 at 3pm ) from Corporate office to end this promotion because they sent the coupon to the wrong customers.

In my opinion, they should honor this coupon not only saying “Sorry”.

Tried to use the coupon today @ the indigo in the Yorkdale.  I asked a customer service rep. if I could use the coupon along with the irewards card.  She said that I could.  (This was around 6:30 pm). I figured I would come back for the book because I walked to walk in the mall for awhile.  (I didn’t want to carry the book around the mall with me.)
I came back around 8 pm, got the book and walked up to the register.  When I presented the coupon, the rep. said “Sorry… the coupon has been distcontinued.” ...At the end, I left VERY DISPOINTED and wondering…

a) if the coupon has been discontinued… why does it CLEARLY STATE that it is valid until Tues?
b)why did the first rep say that I could use the coupon? And the 2nd one said that I couldn’t?
Shouldn’t all reps. have the same answers to the customers questions.
Perhaps, indigo is justing scamming us.
The whole experience was just so sad.

this is the kind of thing that made me stop using chapters/indigo. I started getting sour on them way back when they wouldn’t honor the online price in store on an angels/demons hardcover (was 20 bucks more in store).

Then I saw how much cheaper books were in the states, and how often borders and b&n offer coupons (borders in the last year has offered multiple times: 20/25/30/40% off coupons)

i know we live in canada, but chapters really hits us so much harder than american booksellers, that I am left with the realisation that they do it because THEY CAN.

and this 5 dollar coupon? I’m guessing someone figured out that offering an unlimited use 5 dollar off coupon with no minimum purchase price would have been a repeat of the pharmaplus fiasco from last year.

Man, that sucks.  I printed off three of them and used all three (in separate transactions, mind you, and my husband did one of them).  I managed to get a set of pens that smell like candy canes and gingerbread almost for free for my daughter’s stocking - regularly $5.95 (ouch), just over a buck after taxes.

The same story here - yesterday around 5pm in Bayview Village was told that they got phone call from the head office and this offer was canceled. Instead I was offered $5 off coupon if I spend $50. But I was going to buy a book for $18, so I just refused from new coupon.
Finally on bookcloseouts I ordered 18 books for $45 with free shipping.

Used 2@ Coles Sq.One, 2@ Chapters across from Sq. One.  The Chapters cashier pointed to a large box spilling over with used coupons..  Got 14 Godiva truffles, 10 Lindt truffles, a tin of Godiva mints, and a 1/2 pound of gourmet candy fruit sours. Mmmm.. sick ..  This was around 2PM Nov30th, tried again around 6PM and was told the coupons were no longer being accepted.
