Hot! Dell Ultrasharp 2408 24” LCD $499 & Inspiron 530 PC, PC has Sold Out

UPDATE: Aug 16, 9PM - Desktop is now officially sold out. The monitor is still available as of this update but it won't last the week, that's for sure.
We've got some hot, limited quantity offers (500 redemptions each) from Dell.ca this morning! The last limited quantity offer (the $399 Inspiron 1525) sold out in less than 24 hours, so if either of these items interest you, don't hesitate too long. First up, there's a very cheap Inspiron 530 desktop PC for $299 in Pentium Dual-Core configuration or in Core 2 Duo Configuration (E4600) for $339. You will need to apply the coupon code listed to bring the price down. The specs are:
    • Intel Pentium dual-core processor E2180 (1MB L2 Cache,2.00GHz,800 FSB) English
    • Windows Vista Home Basic Service Pack 1
    • 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz- 2DIMMs
    • 250GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache™
    • Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio
    • Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 3100
    • 16x DVD+/-RW Drive
    • 1 Year Next Business Day Onsite/In Home Service and Tech Support
Note that in addition to a lower price than the Vostro 200 offerings in the past couple of weeks, this Inspiron 530 also comes with a 250GB hard drive as opposed to the 160GB seen in the Vostro computers. Upgrades worth mentioning include the E4600 processor for $40, the Q6600 for $140 (making for a quad-core Q6600 system for $439), and Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 for $89. As mentioned on the page, use coupon code 65PQH8RRFPRSFN at the checkout to bring the price down.

Second up, the Dell Ultrasharp 2408 24" LCD is, after coupon, priced at $499! There were many, many requests for this monitor at this price during the most recent Dell Days of Deals promotion, so now is your chance. Use the coupon code KMBSCN39RXNX04 to knock $200 off the $699 price tag for a price of $499! This is a S-PVA panel monitor. As always, shipping is free.

Is there a way of adding the coupon to two monitors?  I’m a dual monitor guy and I want to have two of these at the lower price.

the rather blatantly obvious answer would be to buy one, twice...since there is no shipping anyway there’s no extra cost in buying them separately?

Is the PC worth it?  I have a credit with Dell for 25% off from a prior dispute, so basically, I can buy whatever computer/laptop I want and get 25% off the final purchase price, including tax.  Is this worth it to buy and spend my money on?  I would like to buy a laptop and PC soon so I’m indifferent.  I am fairly price insensitive although I think my wife would kill me if I bought a $4K PC, even with 25% off.  I know nothing about computers really.  Any help is appreciated.

just when I bought the Vostro for $319+tax, then they come out with a better deal .... with a larger harddisk also....

Note you can configure the system with a a Core 2 Quad Q6600 for $439 and now they are using 800MHz instead of 667MHz RAM like before.

Why is the 24” dell such a big deal?

There is a 24” Samsung 1080P SyncMaster for only 389.99…

And the specs are even better than dell…

@theQuack:

Wrong.  The Samsung 1080p syncmaster isn’t half the monitor that the Dell 2408wfp is.

Samsung uses the inferior TN panel while Dell uses the far superior S-PVA type of panel.  In addition, the Dell provides HDMI/Component/Composite Video/Audio inputs.  The Dell stand is even far far superior to the Samsung.

The so-called “specs” that Samsung beats the Dell in are marketing gimicks like lightning fast 2ms response time (almost indiscernable with the Dell’s response time) and Samsung will boast things like 10000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio which again is just to fool chumps into thinking that it matters, when the human eye can’t tell between 3000:1, 1000:1, 10000:1.

The Samsung is crap compared to the Dell, that is what the price reflects.

In addition, TN panels have TERRIBLE viewing angles.

That being said, TN panels are good for one thing only: Gaming.

Is a great thread to read to learn about monitors… oh and one last point, the Samsung is 6-bit, meaning while it claims support for 16.7 million colors, it only truly displays 262K colors, while the Dell is a true 8-bit monitor which can actually display 16.7 million colors

I’m so happy about the 24” ultrasharp!  I sat on the $574 offer my Dell business rep gave for a few days and today, BANG, the price I wanted!

BTW: regarding the Lag problem every reviewer talk about, the newest revision seems to have fix it. (release end of July)

Go on the Dell forum and search for 2408 A01, customers report that the lag is gone
