    GPSCity.ca: Garmin Nuvi 770 (Text-to-Speech, Bluetooth, & More) $389.95 (Hot!)

Here's a fine deal on a high end Garmin GPS from GPSCity.ca: the Garmin Nuvi 770 GPS Navigator for $389.95! Previously, we've seen this unit for $439.99 from Costco, but $389.95 is far and away the lowest price we've seen for this GPS unit so far. By the looks of it, shipping prices are reasonable as well -- $12.76 for ground shipping. This is a limited quantity promotion, so get it while you can.

If you're unfamiliar with the product, the Nuvi 770 is among Garmin's top of the line products (only recently replaced as the top of the line product by the 800 series) and is packed with features including a super-bright 4.3" LCD touchscreen display, text-to-speech, Bluetooth, FM transmitter, traffic, track log recording, multi-destination routing, a one-touch "Where Am I?" feature, MP3 and audiobook playback and more. In a October 2007 review of the Nuvi 760 (which is functionally the same as the 770 unit minus the European maps) GPSmagazine.com gives it a score of 4.7/5 and calls it "an outstanding navigator" and "the best GPS on the market today".

Ordered from GPSCity today....

I’d been intrigued by Futureshop’s “price protection policy” but after waiting A WEEK for them to get back to me, figured I’d better order while stock was still available.

Futureshop update- week and a half later, still haven’t honoured their ‘price protection’ policy- ie, haven’t matched, let alone beat by 10%, this price! tongue laugh

UPDATE:  Futureshop never did contact me about its price protection guarantee.

The 770 i received seemed to have a problem- volume dropped out, as if it had a defective speaker.

BUT, invested the 3 hrs to download and install the latest software and maps, and the problem seems to have gone away.

there’s now a Nuvi 775 out, so i guess this model is old news.  and yet, gpscity.ca is now charging much more for the 770

We ran out of the Nuvi 770 at the special price of 389.95.  The cost is a little higher now due to the change in the dollar.  Still it is a STEAL of a deal.

hmmm..... 457.95 vs 389.95 is to me more than a’little higher’.....

to me, a steal is Dell’s 200- series garmin with european maps for 199

i’m still concerned about the fact that i had issues with the unit’s audio.  i’m hoping that the softwre update fixed it.

a friend had similar issues with a 770 from costco- he simply returned it.  so again, hope it’s a software rather than hw issue.

GPS Central has the 770 for $449.95 - it’s not as good of a deal as the GPS City sale was but it is still cheaper than what GPS City is selling it for now ($457.95)
