Freebie: National Do Not Call List
If you're getting a lot of unsolicited telemarketer calls (and who isn't?), you'll want to sign up on Canada's National Do Not Call registry. This registry is open for residential, wireless, VoIP numbers and faxes.
Unfortunately, the list does not prevent calls from political parties, registered charities, and business with whom you have an existing business relationship. Still, it's free and easy -- and it will cut down on a lot of unwanted calls.

To take care of everything that is not covered by the National Do Not Call List, there is http://ioptout.ca/ which is run by Michael Geist.

There are over 80,000 registered charities in Canada alone!!
Let’s see… if only half of them call once a year, you’d still receive over a hundred calls a day!
Good thing the majority of charities don’t do cold calling. Once you donate, however, your name and number get shared with other groups…
Make sure to donate a lot (tough times) and try to do so anonymously.

The cold calls are still being done by computer. The choices you get for answers are preprogrammed and registered by using your keypad. Unfortunately there is no option for “Diddle you and don’t call”
