1&1 is a big German company, not American. They also have a bit of a rep for holding clients’ domains but I am not sure if that is still the case.

DO NOT EVER SIGN UP WITH 1AND1 , THEY ARE CROOKS.

They will automatic renew your domain after it expires, unless every other domain registrar that will ask you to do it.  They automatically charge your credit card without your approval.

Even if you stop payment with your credit card, they will then send you the credit collection agency and charge you $35 for a $4.99 domain.  It also ruins your credit file, DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM AT ALL COST.

THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF.  Do not ever give them your credit card info. Dishonest company.

DON’T SIGN UP WITH THEM! My company’s domain is stuck with them, they won’t let me leave. Their technical help is outsourced to all over the world. I called them so many times you can never talk to anyone twice even if they give you their extension number it means nothing when they are in the Philliippines and you call back and you’re talking to someone in India!  Their 1st level and 2nd level reps don’t know anything and NEVER followup and NEVER correct anything for you.  Emailing them is exactly the same problem. 1&! SUCKS! I cannot stress enough to everyone, DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!! TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW!!

Automatic renewal = BENEFIT, A PLUS , POSITIVE POINT

Not a scam (would you want to LOOSE your website that you’ve had for 10 years just because you FORGOT to RENEW, They do it for you, and you can choose NOT TO OBVIOUSLY)

the only bad thing from 1and1 is that sometimes their customer service SUX that’s about it, and I usually know more than them anyways

tictak probably works for 1&1, people don’t usually blog about good service, but for really bad service and look at the majority, overall a bad company to deal with.  don’t trust these comments, dare you to do a google search for 1and1 reviews and see all the other horror stories on the web - that you can’t dispute.

I agreed, tictak just work for them or use their affiliate programs, 1and1 sucks in all domain registrar forums out there, check before you pay them a cent.

Do not think you are safe even if you cut your credit card or report it lost, they will send credit collector loan sharks after you.

I agree with the posters who warn against this company, they bill unauthorized charges.

It’s true, although I still use them for my domain hosting, when my CC expired and there was a $8.00 pending fee, they shutdown my domains and had a credit collector after me for that amount. I was shocked.
Minus this example of poor business ethics, the actual service has been adequate for my needs - nothing above and beyond any other hosting company out there (and believe me, they are a dime a dozen). They are definitely not the cheapest, but at the same time I have seen more expensive. Just do your due-dilegence and research a company prior to committing with them.

You would have to be a retard to use this company. Seriously, pay the extra money and get GODADDY. They are reputable and honest.
