Free 411 with Goog-411 Now w/Canadian Listings
Just last week Google launched their free 411 service Goog-411 in Canada with full Canadian listings. How does it work? You simply call 1-800-GOOG-411 from any phone, tell them the location and type of business you're looking for and using voice recognition they'll respond with a number of listings. You can then choose to be connected directly with that business for free, even if it would regularly be a long distance call. It's perfect for when you're travelling, looking for the phone number of a restaurant you're headed to, or if you just want to play with another one of Google's free services Have fun!

I’ve never heard of google 411. So good link.
BTW only the google 411 service is free, you’re phone company still charges you long distance.

That is if you’re connected to a business that would be considered long distance if dialed directly like normal.
Why can’t I edit my previous comment instead of having to add another comment.

I’ve been using it for a while now, since it first came out. As far as I know, it’s a toll free number, calling is free but ofcourse you will use your airtime, and when they ask you if you want them to dial the number of a business for you, this is when the long distance charge comes in, only if that business number is long distance. But mostly when you’re using the Google 411 service, you’re most likely going to look for places around your current city where you are in or calling from.

I’m not 100% sure, but I don’t think you get charged long distance. The link above to the google site was referring to airtime. I’ve been using this service for months.

If you don’t get charged LD, wouldn’t this be a good way to call long distance… say to a store in the US… for free?
