Ford Drive One Challenge: Test-Drive a Ford But Buy a Different Car? Ford Will Give You $100

If you're car-shopping, you may be interested in Ford's Drive One Challenge. Simply put, if you test-drive a Ford but ultimately end up buying another car, Ford will give you $100. The offer is valid July 1 through August 31, 2009.

Here's the fine print: "This offer is only valid at participating dealers. Any customer who test drives a new Ford vehicle during the Program Period and purchases or leases a new qualifying competitive make and model vehicle and takes delivery of that vehicle within 14 calendar days of the Ford test drive will be eligible to receive a $100 offer. To claim the $100 offer the customer must return to the Ford dealer where they took their test drive within 14 calendar days of the original test drive and present the dealer with proof of purchase/lease and delivery in the form of a dated and signed Retail Buyers Agreement."

So best thing to do is drive a Ford, buy any other car?

The best thing would actually be to choose your car, and do everything you need to do before finalizing the purchase, then rush over to the Ford dealership for a test drive.  That 14 day window to take delivery is tough since any model not on the lot will take at least a week to get to you anyways.

I don’t understand the reason Ford is doing this...why would they pay someone to buy a non-Ford car?  It’s bordering on insanity smile

What happens is that a typical import car buyer, intrigued by the $100 offer will step inside a Ford dealership....

Then the steel doors slam shut.  There’s a grinding sound, and then a burp.

obviously Ford has high confidence of it’s cars. I think cockiness a good sign especially during this down time. I like it.

We just signed for a new Toyota back in June, but it won’t be delivered until July 15th. I checked our documents, but all of them are dated for June. Too bad - I would have picked up some take-out in the test drive, and then gone back and picked up my cheque…
