    eMusic.com 50 Free* MP3s + 1 Free Audiobook

eMusic.com started with a focus on DRM-free independent MP3 music downloads. Over the years as the downloadable music market has matured they've added more and more artists including Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, and Miles Davis to the mix while maintaining their dedication to the independents. eMusic now has over 3.5 million music tracks and just added audiobooks to their selection.

In the past, eMusic.com gave away 50 free MP3 tracks with no obligation. The offer has changed now, instead they are requiring you to subscribe to their service for a month, starts at $11.99 US for 30 downloads, and then giving you an additional 50 downloads. If you sign up now, they're also giving away a bonus free audiobook download in addition to the 50 MP3's. If you're not happy with it you can cancel at anytime and keep what you've downloaded. Considering that audiobooks can be over $11.99 US this is a good deal if there's something you'd like to listen to. (Tip - to browse their selection of music or audiobooks click on the 'About eMusic' link on the bottom left and browse from there.)

Be very careful with emusic.com!!!

I have experience with them and although I did not personally get scammed, I saw many others get scammed and charges to their credit cards by this company like 3 months after signing up for this exact “free trial” offer.

Don’t believe me, type “emusic scam” on google. see for yourself.

I’ve been an e-music subscriber for many years now. They are the real deal. People feel scammed because they sign up and then are too lazy to cancel their trial account. Then they go around foulmouthing e-music.

By all means, be careful with your wallet. And by all means, if you’re interested in interesting music, do check out e-music without worry.

I’ve been a subscriber for a couple of years as well. The 50 free mp3s deal is nothing new - it is always available via winamp.com.

Hooray for the recent interest in DRM-free music, eMusic was one of the first to offer this on a large scale.

As a side note, if you end your subscription, they’ll send you a “we miss you!” email in a couple of months with another 50 free downloads if you re-subscribe :p

Used emusic all the time when it was flat rate.  Cancelled my account once that stopped.  Was good while it lasted.

Now with bandwidth being so cheap, and their flat rate having been so expensive, they should offer it again.  I don’t mind spending for flat rate services.  Oh well…

When I bought my music player it came with a certificate for 50 free music downloads and also said no expiration date.  Not a word about paying for a trial subscription first. I am now seeing that I have to pay for a subscription first!!  What a joke.  I am writing a letter to the company RCA that makes the music player with a copy of how the certificate reads that i received with their product.

I can only confirm the BE CAREFUL warning.

I signed for the free trial, failed to download anything and canceled it the same day.  One month latter I see a $11.99 charge in my credit card.  They refuse to issue a refund in the first complaint and dialogue line seems closed.

From my experience:  DON’T BOTHER

They are either incompetent of dishonest.
