Dell.ca: Inspiron 1525 Notebook w/Pentium Dual Core T3200, 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, 4-cell, Vista $499
Forum poster galigian has spotted a pretty good laptop deal over at Dell.ca: Pentium Dual core T3200 equipped Inspiron 1525 15" notebook for $499. It's similar to a limited quantity offer from a couple of weeks ago with a couple of differences. Here's what you're getting:
- Intel Pentium Dual Core T3200 (2.0GHz/667Mhz FSB/1MB cache)
- Windows Vista® Home Basic Edition SP1
- Glossy, widescreen 15.4 inch display (1280x800)
- 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 (2 Dimms)
- 160GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
- CD / DVD Writer (DVD+/-RW Drive)
- Dell Wireless 1395 802.11g Mini-Card
- 4 cell battery
- High Definition Audio 2.0
- Intel X3100 Graphics
- 1 Year Limited Warranty w/1 Year Return To Depot Service
Unlike the previous offering, this Inspiron 1525 comes with a 4-cell battery instead of a 6-cell battery and no included webcam. However, you can select processor upgrades this time. A Core 2 Duo T5800 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache) costs an additional $50 for instance. Other upgrades of note include a 1440x900 display upgrade for $50, an upgrade to Vista Home Premium for $30, and adding Bluetooth for $20.

Any chance this computer will go down again? I saw advertised at $599 till Nov 12, then $549 till Nov 27 and now its $499 till Dec 12. Will it go down to 449? Its a great computer and I am going to buy one its just a matter if i should wait or not?

A price of $549, not $499 appears when you click on the link to Dell. How do I access the $499 price?

We’re looking into it, but it appears the price has been changed to $549. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I bought this laptop the last time it was on sale for $499. Very good laptop. I would highly recommend upgrading sound system though (it’s not loud enough and low quality) and even a battery upgrade (my 6-cell battery lasts about 2 hours). Otherwise, good laptop. I got it hooked up with my XP running desktop for file sharing too with Dell tech support’s help.

Forgot to mention that it is one of the very few laptops in the market that has both an S-video & HDMI outputs (confirm with online chat help to make sure that is still the case). This way, you can hook it up to old TVs as well as new HD ones.

Ignore my earlier post. The link has been updated and it now once again points to the $499 configuration.

This looks like a great deal for a capable laptop. I was wondering if Dell typically offers boxing week deals on laptops. I’d love to get the 1525, but I can wait until after Xmas if it will be $449. Probably wishful thinking.

Yes does anyone if Boxing week sales will be better for Dell. I almost bought this except for the 4 cell battery which is pretty chinsey.
