That is, if you don’t mind taking on the obnoxious attitude of the goDaddy CEO (openly supported Bush, cheesy sexist advertising, etc). Perfect for those conservative porn domains, yee-haw.

Doesn’t matter to me unless he’s actively doing something particularly wrong (The sexist advertising isn’t bad enough to warrant a boycott, IMHO).

If I only did business with people who agreed with me politically and religiously I wouldn’t be able to do much business at all!

I’ll save the outrage for companies run by known criminals, actual criminal organizations, and just plain mean people.  wink

shepd - for sure, lots of people are not going to care what they are endorsing if they can save a couple of $, but some people believe in voting with your $. wink

Need I add anymore. They may be slightly cheaper, but they’re at best shady. Also, if you you need anything beyond the usual (i.e. DKIM, SPF, multiple TXT records, etc.), which are a basic aspect of DNS service, you’re going to get dinged with charges.

Lets not forget that go daddy will take your domain from you if they don’t like the content of the site you put up with it.

DO NOT DEAL WITH GO DADDY OR ANY OF THEIR AFFILIATES.  YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Works on transfers too. BTW, I’ve used them for years. Never had an issue.

Anecdotal.  Google for reviews on them.  A much larger percentage of godaddy users have issues with them than any other registrar (save perhaps NSI).

The odds of something going wrong are low. But things do go wrong, and when that happens you want good support. There are plenty of horror stories about every service provider, but the huge ones like GoDaddy, based in another country, would naturally be the worst.

I’m not a customer of theirs, but I’ve always heard good things about techsavvy. When a friend had an issue, they not only went out of their way to help her, they gave her extended services for free. A few extra dollars (!!!) can go a long way in this regard.

Techsavvy is also leading the fight for net neutrality in Canada. The GoDaddy boss is spending his profit and credibility on dead political ideologies and women paid to act like bimbos. But you make your choice. smile

Just wanted to also thanks to RFD for having the integrity to host this kind of open discussion. Some sites would shut it down, those sites are not trustworthy for a consumer to use.

We use them as well as other registrars. We’re managing quite a few domains and what’s nice about GoDaddy is their interface. It’s a bit slow sometimes but you can make changes en masse. That and they now support all the domain extensions we use. We’re slowly transferring most of our domains over. Just moved another 9 .ca’s before the coupon expires.

We haven’t had any trouble with them in the many years we’ve had domains registered there if that helps.

After years of using Network Solutions, I switched to GoDaddy in 2005 and haven’t looked back. Their prices are excellent and I’ve never had any problems (knock on wood).
