Back To School: Keeping Yourself Fed For Less

So you're headed back to school. You've bought your textbooks for less, what's next? Feeding yourself for less. Eating is something that has to happen every day but there's no need to spend big bucks in the process.
    • Store-bought beverages like bottled soda and water are much cheaper than those bought one-by-one from a vending machine or fast food joint. A good deal on an 18-pack of soda can end up running you 20 cents per can. Buy a mini-fridge for your dorm room and stock it with your favourites -- you'll never pay $2 a soda again.
    • Similarly, packing a small selection of granola bars, trail mix, nuts or other portable snacks will save you the expense of on-campus snacking during the day
    • If you're going to be living away from home, learn some simple, tasty recipes (and experiment now, while you can!). Whip them up in large amounts to serve as a few meals.
    • We've got a nice selection of Food & Drink deals right here on RedFlagDeals.com -- hit our site before you head to the grocery store to maximize your savings
    • Additionally, visit stores just before closing -- some like to sell off that day's prepared foods for cheap at the end of the day
Keep your eye on the RedFlagDeals.com Back To School Section -- we'll be adding deals, contests, articles and tips throughout August.

Don’t forget about some stores “Fresh or its Free” deal at Dominion (Metro stores). Go in at midnight (stores are 24h), and scope out staple foods like eggs, OJ, Milk, Bread, some times it hit and miss, but other days, you can score some nice steaks or what not! Just remember, you need to spend an equal amount at the register.

E.g. You find OJ for $5 that’s expired, you need to buy $5 worth of food to get the free OJ.

If only we had such deals here in Quebec. Plus, Students always lacking iem and severely sleep-deprived, it’s a bad idea to want to keep them up until one or two o’clock when courses start at 8 the following morning.
