I heard that in order to receive the pitcher, you people will be asked to give a donation for some ecologic cause
Can anybody confirm this?

This is basically the razor blade model. They give away the pitcher, then you’re locked in to buying water filters…
Great idea from Brita’s standpoint, they gain 3600 new customers who need water filters. Not sure why they don’t always just giveaway the pitcher.

LOL, “locked into” seems to imply you MUST purchase filters or you’re going to have to pay cancellation fees or something. This is great for me because I’m going to move soon and will need another pitcher. I don’t see why people are complaining. If you don’t want to buy filters in the future, then you can still use this as a regular water pitcher. If you don’t want to get sucked into Brita’s marketing...don’t take one, someone else will be happier with it. Can’t wait to get my free pitcher tomorrow. =)

Holy cow - I get there today around 12;45 to see a line snaking around the whole square… Join the line, wait around 20+ minutes, starts to rain, people are not too happy, line is not moving, etc.
Glad some people were able to score one but I left (had to go back to work) before things could get ugly -
***Brita needs to work on their organization of these events, e.g., 2 security guards for the whole thing (?!) & no barriers/lineup guides of any kind allowed people to form their “own” variant lineups causing some serious yelling matches to go on ad nauseam…

I agree, Brita needs to work on their organization of these events.
It was a total mess out there. Left empty handed after waiting for over 45 minutes. Lineups had no control what so ever, total chaos. Brita had one girl handing out the pitchers one by one and it looked like she was sleeping the whole time. Didn’t even look like the line was moving.
No words to describe it.

Seriously - it got embarassing after a while - I finally threw in the towel when I realized Brita would own me after having to buy all the filters for that thing… Not to mention how many people show up when things are free = most courtesy goes out the window.
Brita needed more staff on hand but better yet the should have just handed out official coupons or vouchers so we could just redeem them at a store instead of enduring that fiasco.

i waited around for around an hour or so… and i did indeed got one - i already have the filters already so it doesn’t matter…
the security was definitely lacking - people joined our line from the side just because the tables and chairs in the way and ‘it somehow cut into the original line’ or someone randomly told them to go that way - and we’re like was it a security guard (the two security guards were on the other side watching) and they were like someone…
maybe wristbands, or numbers would have been better.
when my friend and i were leaving after lunch around 3pm, they were still giving them out and the line was less messy than before.

those 2 security guards work for yonge-dundas square.
but I’ve seen other ‘free’ and bigger events there before with less mess and confusion.
